Neighbouring Balmoral Castle, Royal Lochnagar is the perfect place to discover how Scotch Whisky is made. Watch as our team of operators tend to our traditional mashtun, gleaming copper stills and fill casks at our traditional distillery, which retains much of its original charm. The tour ends with a dram of the award-winning Royal Lochnagar 12 Year Old Single Highland Malt.

Our guide Eric was very entertaining, the tour lasts for about 45-50 minutes. Being a small distillery you get to see all the workings clearly. Near the end we get to smell different barrels of whisky, it's fascinating to see difference they make. The wee...More

A really interesting tour with a very knowledgable guide. Thanks Alex. If you want to know how a grain of barley becomes a drop of whisky, this will tell you, and give you a taste too!

Lovely little distillery a bit off the beaten track but road conditions were good/ gritted despite recent snow/ ice. Situated just next to Balmoral Castle (which was unfortunately closed), lovely scenic area around. Great tour with Eric who is a quirky funny and knowledgeable guide....More

We visited on a Monday afternoon in early January and looked after by Eric who knows his stuff and makes the tour very interesting with his friendly and humorous disposition. Well worth a visit and asking if Eric can be your tour guide.

Drink your Scotch Whisky where the Royals go! Take time for the tour or walk through the free history room.
