Learn how to surf at Scarborough’s only ‘Surfing England - Centre of Excellence’ located roughly 20 feet from Scarborough’s North Bay, a great little beach break, that is perfect for learners. Opened in 2011, Dexter’s has always been the go-to surf shop for beginners and families. All surf lessons are provided by friendly and professional SLSGB Surf Rescue (Lifeguard) ISA surf instructors who are all first-aid trained and have an outstanding safety record. There is also RNLI Lifeguards patrolling the bay May-September. Dexter’s provides private and group surf lessons catering for all ages, sizes and abilities, all year round. Being the biggest surf shop in the area and owning huge stock of hire kit, the school can handle large groups easily, and offer fun-packed adventure days such as Stag and Hen parties, Corporate Events and University Surf Clubs! As well as surf lessons, Dexter’s also has a great selection of hire kit, you can rent surfboards, wetsuits, paddleboards and kayaks!

Did a surfing lesson with these guys on a Saturday morning and absolutely loved it! The instructors are hilarious and really make you feel at ease and safe in the water, as well as really pushing you and giving so much feedback! I got so much from it and will definitely be back, thanks so much ! X

We recently bought a double kayak but it soon became apparent we needed a bit of guidance, today we spent time on a lesson with Steve learning how to be efficient but also safe on the water. The time whizzed by and we were joined by a couple of cheeky seals. I can highly recommend Dexters, we now feel completely confident to head out ourselves.

Me and my adult children took the half day kayaking tour and it was an amazing experience. Steve was a great instructor and did his best so that we could see as many animals as possible - and we did see seals and dolphins. Beautiful views and definitely something I would recommend and repeat.

All 3 of.my kids have been many times now! Amazing ! They enjoyed every session said their teacher was fantastic and great value for money! We will be booking regularly for sure thanks 😊

Amazing!! My 6 year old did the ‘little Tina’s’ class today - he smiled and laughed the whole time. The coach was so encouraging and cheering them on. All the kids were up surfing numerous times by the end of the session. Would highly recommend

Fantastic surf lessons, they make it possible for anyone to learn , we had Tilly we’ve had a man before who was also very good very knowledgeable. My 8yr old had cracked it by the end of the lesson. Also great value for money, would def recommend we will be booking again!

Absolutely fantastic !!! My 2 children (10yrs & 13yrs) attended the 'Big Tuna' Surf lesson yesterday. Both of them were a little nervous because they had never surfed before but as soon as we arrived everyone was so friendly, reassuring and welcoming the nerves soon went.
The actually lesson was fantastic, both instructors did a great job being very attentive at all times and just made the kids feel so comfortable. The safety of the children was always top priority.
All the children cracked it and got up on the boards and surfed !! My 2 came out at the end saying it was brilliant and wanted to buy a surf board ha ha.
I would recommend a million times over, thankyou to Dexters for a great afternoon.

Two sons ages 13 and 10 took part in the Big Tuna session, staff were patient and helpful. Younger one was apprehensive but was able to join in at his own pace. Both had a fantastic time and keen to surf again! Very reasonably priced for the experience! All kit etc provided, definitely recommend, only regret was that I didn’t join in!
