My children love this museum. I have to dissuade them from going inside (but come on; it's free!). The main attraction for us are the various trails they have to keep children engaged. Our favourite is the mouse trail- some mice have "escaped" and the...More

I went with my 5 year old grandson and it was quite limited for this age group. Nether the less we saw some interesting things in a short, 30 mins, visit. I would certainly go again and I found it very interesting.

Treat yourself to Newbury's rich history. The museum has been newly refurbished and is a credit to the curator and museum team. A lot of effort has been given to the well presented subjects. Children can dress up and hunt for key museum items and...More

A free museum which is always good news. The exhibitions seem to be regularly updated. The staff are consistently friendly, and the little on site cafe area is very good.

I was really impressed with the museum on a recent visit. I hadn't been for many years and remembered it as a bit dark and fusty. Now it's light, bright and really well curated. They had a great video when you first go in to...More

A bit late in replying, but the Museum is just off the Market Square, and very close to where the Canal boat trips leave. From the coach park, you will walk past the place if heading to town. Long Wharf side style... More

Parking is reasonably good in Newbury but if you are coming to spend a day then the parking can add up as most is chargeable. That said, Sainsbury's on the A339 has an hour free and the museum is a five minute walk. You can... More
