Brilliant way to see parts of the West Country you wouldn't see by car if you don't mind the electric train instead of the steam try and sit right up the front opposite side to the driver. I sat there once and we had a fox ran across in front of the train and a Bird of pray flew towards... More

Minehead railway station is a very real blast from the past, with hundreds is happy eager volunteers. The journey to Bishops Lideard can be on a steam train or diesel and is a beautiful country journey.

One evening in December we took the train for a Christmas special of carolling. There was a band on the train (I think from Wellington) and we stopped at various stations where we all embarked and sang carols. Fortunately it was a dry night, we'd taken our own mulled wine, and with the moon, Christmas lights, and misty villages it... More

Booked the Cider train last September, round trip from Bishops Lydeard to Minehead and back. We took the dog which we had to book in, hence we sat in a carriage apart from most of the other diners but we did share the coach with the catering staff. well, what a brilliant treat. Bottled local cider with cheese and exotic... More

We haven't been here for over a year but still as good as ever. The staff are always kind, helpful and informative. The trains and staions are clean and attractive and all the station museums, Bishops Lydeard, Washford and Blue Anchor are worth a visit and if summer stop awhile for a picnic at Stogumber, it is all magical. We... More

This was a very well organised fun trip with my 4 year old grandsons Parking on site was easy. The cafe small but adequate while waiting for the train. good chance to see the engine as much a part as santa himself. A glass of sherry a mince pie a pleasant ride through the countryside a magician and then santa... More

Minus 2 outside and in. Carriages were freezing cold in the morning 27th Dec. Most uncomfortable £53 pounds ever wasted. Not recommended. All customers clearly uncomfortable on board. Made to pay for hot drinks to warm up a little. So cold the condensation on all windows meant no views at all. Felt like I'd wasted my day.

Dear Visitor, I know it won't change the experience you had, but here is the explanation from the Guard on the day. If you would like to phone me on 01643 700383 or email colin.howard@wsrail.net I will arrange some replacement tickets. I see we had a rather negative review on tripadvisor on 27 Dec. As I was probably the guard... More

Decided to try the Santa Express as we enjoyed our summer trip on the railway so much, however we were extremely disappointed. The train wasn't cleaned before our trip, left over drinks on the table and no toilet roll in the toilet. The staff weren't very polite or happy (as they were in the summer) rushing through literally chucking out... More

Dear Kara S, many thanks for taking the time to comment on our Santa Express. This year we carried over 6,000 passengers, but even one complaint, is one too many. I am extremely disappointed in our performance on the day you visited and will use your feedback to address these issues in time for next year. More

We took our 2 year old for her first Father Christmas experience on the steam train this morning. Absolutely brilliant. The train itself was lovely, our daughter loves them so that was always going to be a winner. But, what I didn't expect was how friendly and enthusiastic the staff were, all the added extras - magician, some singing &... More
