Probably not the best venue for this type of gig - lacked atmosphere & band drowned out the vocals. Holmfirth Picturedrome much better Toyah still going well at 59 Paul Young seemed to have lost his voice these days China Crisis - good start to the night Martika- great finish On the whole a good night though

Thank you for your comments. The PA System is brought in by the touring production company. We try and offer a variety of events and concerts for all and received many favourable comments from audience members on the night. More

The show was fabulous, the venue less so. Shocking acoustics, even the echo had an echo and I have been to motorway service stations that had better facilities.

Thank you for your review. I'm sorry to hear that you had issues with the sound. After reading our show report and speaking to the Duty Manager we had no other comments regarding sound issues. We always advise customers to speak to a member of staff on the night so that we can address any concerns you may have. With... More

This is a beautiful, majestic building. Alright on the outside but with an incredible interior. As a venue for performance, it is perhaps a bit cramped (some of the seats in the gods are really short on leg room and it can get very warm up there). However, the architecture is breath-taking. In addition to the main hall, there are... More

Sending this review on behalf of my Dad who went to this concert and thoroughly enjoyed it. He is recovering from a fall and is walking with a zimmer frame. The staff were amazing, so helpful and friendly, sorting out wider seats and making sure he walked on a level surface. He was so worried he would have to miss... More

First time visiting this recommended by friends, What an excellent night out. Absolutely brilliant night. Not sure what to expect but the singing was out of this world, not a note out of place. The brass band were also brilliant. The compare for the night was very entertaining and kept the audience amused and in touch with the performance all night.... More

Went to see Marry Prior and her 'Christmas Capers' show at this venue last night (7 December). Whilst the gig was excellent, I came away with a sore next after being on the front row staring up at a 4 foot high stage all evening from a flat-floored room. I wasn't the only one to comment either. What was the... More

Thank you for your comments and great to hear that you enjoyed the concert and loved our spectacular concert hall. With regards to the staging, the majority of the staging is permanent and made out of wood plus it stores our grand pianos underneath. The stage extension are for touring productions and orchestras and we do not offer dropped staging... More

Recently visited for a massed brass bands concert. The town hall looks nothing out of the ordinary from the outside or even once you're in the foyer, but the hall itself is breathtaking. The acoustics are also excellent in the hall and the space has a nice intimate feel.

Huddersfield. What a depressing place. Except it has such a wonderful Victorian Town Hall. If there is an orchestra or a choir there just go. It will make you feel slightly better about Huddersfield.

Just spent a most enjoyable lunchtime listening to the Father Willis organ played by the Kirklees Borough resident organist,Gordon Stewart with Fellow Sheffielder on trumpet Tom Osborne. My only regret is not discovering the majesty of this venue earlier. I am told after this current season of concerts the lunchtime concerts will fold. Does austerity have to be the "hat"... More

Sadly this location didn't add anything positive to our experience of seeing the comedian Stewart Francis. The building is huge and in need of some TLC. The auditorium looked dated and the sound quality was poor. The bar area was equally unimpressive. Glad Stewart Francis was excellent.

Thank you for your feedback and I'm pleased to see you enjoyed Stewart Francis. Huddersfield Town Hall is a large Victorian building and is constantly being improved and refurbished to improve the customer experience. In 2015 the Old Court Room Bar and Balcony Level Bar were refurbished to a high standard and a brand new lift to the balcony level... More
