Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Would give five stars if they give ale samples. As it happens today, we went there, they have stopped doing them. Two regular customers down sadly. kings head is where we are going.

This is a lovely pub just off Huddersfield town centre. The beer range is comprehensive and the staff are friendly, the place is also spotless. There is quirky art work on the walls, they don`t do food, it`s certainally worth a visit.

Well what can I say about this pub. Absolutely amazing, great beer, brilliant atmosphere, friendly staff.
Go in a stranger, leave as a friend. I love this place and I can now call it my local.
Covid-19 social distancing, table service at the moment, the staff always have a smile on their face and make you feel welcome. Keep up the brilliant work.

With leather settees and unusual artifacts. Great real ales and a wonderful place to meet new people. Love this place. The staff are friendly too.

Stopped for a couple of hours while on a 75th birthday pub crawl. Superb ambience, paintings adorning the walls and a fantastic selection of cask and craft beers. I have frequented a lot of pubs over the years but never have I seen such a choice. Tried 3 different beers and they were all in excellent condition. Cellar man must be a magician.

Great Pub, Great Beer, Great surroundings. A real pub for conversation. There is always a superb selection of real ale on tap and for drivers they even stock "infinite session", the only alcohol free beer that tastes any good!
I always make a point of popping it when I am in Huddersfield and have never been disappointed

First time at the Grove and was disappointed with the way one of the staff treated us.
I was playing my friends part of a track on my phone, when a member staff came over and said something like we don't have a PRS license so can you switch your phone off.He was most impolite and walking away from us as he spoke. I called him back and asked him to explain why there was a guitarist in one of the other bars playing publically if they didn't have a PRS license. He said they didn't need one for that. What nonsense. So all in all spoilt my first visit to this pub, and won't be going again which is a shame as the beer was good.

Called into the pub yesterday with 5 other CAMRA members as part of festive beer survey
Good choice of beer and was fairy busy
The experience was ruined by terrible service and staff who had no idea as to how to pull a pint which is a basic skill you would think
All our beer served had no head and went flat in minutes of drinking it
When I suggested that a sparkler might be the answer I was told “ what’s that”
Better pubs in the town that know how to look after the beer

The Grove is a strange one. The selection, range and quality of the beer is as good as you'll find anywhere. The prices are very reasonable. Full marks all round there.

But as a pub, I'm less convinced. Don't expect a warm welcome and a cosy chat with the landlord; unusually for pubs in this part of the world, that won't happen. You'll be served with a minimum of ceremony and that's it. The decor is quirky, although there's been some work done improving things in recent months.

There are much better, more welcoming pubs around Huddersfield town centre serving equally excellent beer (Sportsman, Corner, Kings Head, Rat & Ratchet, Star etc). The Grove only attracts because of it's fantastic range.

The place is quirky but not in an affected way, there’s a great atmosphere and it all feels authentic. I liked the ‘erotic’ art and, err, taxidermy anyway. Has a decent sized back garden too. Excellent choice of beers and the staff are on their game.
