The harbour is very picturesque at high tide but at low tide, the water recedes and any boats there are beached. The area houses cafes, wet fish shops, whelk stalls, The Smokehouse fish and chip shop and the Rocksalt restaurant. There's lots to do and a nice place to spend half a day in the summer.

Folkestone has always had a wonderful harbour and beach area, the work on the Harbour Arm has really brought life back to the area. As an ex local who grew up here it's great to see life back in the area.

Folkestone harbour is a big area of land that could be made better with regeneration. There is a paved area with water fountains coming up for children and there are good gift shops and decent restaurants, but otherwise there isn't really a great deal to do there which was a bit if a diss appointment, although there is a large... Thanks to the reopening of the Folkestone Harbour Arm ( Summer only ) the whole Harbour area is becoming a great place to be with something for everyone from pop up bars and restaurants on the arm , to the more traditional pubs around the Harbour area; pour on some great weather and recipe for a good day out.

Made several visits over the summer along the newly opened section of the harbour, always just to simply indulge at the Lighthouse Champagne Bar. There are a selection of food outlets along the walk down to the bar and all seems to enjoy good patronage which hopefully bodes well for the long term future of this area of the harbour.... More

Stayed across the road over Christmas and apart from the harbour and a short adjoining street the seafront which is attractive,to the west is like a tip. The railway station, lines, sea wall, and beach is a disgrace, and is one of the worst eyesores I have ever stayed at. The whole place west of the harbour is derelict. I feel... More

This was a small harbour, pleasant to walk around, had some seating and a cafe but due to time of year it was closed. It was nice all the same. Sue C.

Good evening travellers Great day out with family in Folkestone. We are leaving about 40 minutes away and I wish I will have more time to spent in Folkestone. Lots of things they can be improved but is looking a little better. Great to walk around winter or summer. Enjoy

Folkestone is finished as a ferry port and slowly parts of it are disappearing. Not sure what they are going to the old railway station and viaduct. Visit the harbour before more old infrastructure is demolished. The Channel Tunnel has crippled this old ferry port!
