Plenty of choice and a lovely view.
Pouring with rain we visited with friends who were interested in buying some 'pearls.' Plenty of free parking in front and a bright and modern interior. All kinds of pear jewelry on display and our friends found what they wanted. The staff were friendly and welcoming . I Particularly enjoyed the view across the sea and we had a pleasant break in the attached Cafe. Well worth a visit for the view, whatever the weather.
Thank you for the lovely review, we are so pleased you enjoyed your visit on a rainy day. We look forward to seeing you again in the future.

    5 Star Afternoon.
A Fabulous afternoon had on Saturday with a group of 30 friends. We began the afternoon with a brilliant masterclass taken by Helen and Lizzie on the history and the making of the Pearls, followed by High Tea, very tasty sandwiches and cakes and even enough to take a slice home. Finishing off our visit with a look round the shop at all their wonderful jewellery. Everyone commented on what a lovely afternoon they all had - we will all definitely be returning - Thank you.
Glad you had a great time with us Jessie! See you again soon!

Treasured possessions that will last a lifetime.
Luxury atmosphere without feeling snobby. The ladies were polite and approachable. We chose an oyster at the water feature where we fished it out and the lady released the pearls from inside the shell. We were lucky enough to get twin pearls, which they measured and valued - writing the information on a guarantee card. We chose jewellery to have the pearls placed in. Treasured possessions that will last a lifetime.
Thank you for a lovely review, Abbie! Enjoy wearing your twin pearls!

    A Peerless Experience!
Firstly, my wife and I shopped! I bought her a pair of beautiful Tahitian pearl earrings in stunning dark blue. I then indulged myself and got a bangle in a sort of smoke grey leather with a pearl at the centre. Then we took tea in the cafe but, sadly, we were pushed for time and left just as they closed up. Overall, this was a lovely experience with splendid jewellery that's beautifully presented and with helpful and enthusiastic staff. So thank you all for making it a really fun experience.

Unless you like being ignored and patronised I wouldn't bother coming here, two members of staff one doing paper work and one serving. We waited at the pick and pearl counter and was glared at non stop and when the staff member was free she choose to ignore us and service the 'retail counter customers', which makes me think they are commissioned based, after complaining about it out of know where 3 staff members appeared and the one who dealt with us was condisending and patronising giving the impressed we had clearly disturbed something (being 2.30 and the store closing at 4 I doubt it was lunch) the pick pearl costs £28 and the reality is its over priced and staff not interested so I wouldnt bother visiting....so far its been the worst service on the island!

Where are the staff?? Visited today and only 2 members of staff in the whole place across 5 or more counters. Most upsetting of all is the fact that I was quite blatantly ignored in favour of the Japanese tourist who arrived to stand at the counter after me. The other member of staff was running around after an extremely loud and demanding family group. Although I went with the intention of buying pearls today, and spending several hundred pounds, we left empty handed. Very poor experience and I’ll take my money elsewhere.

I have been visiting this venue since about 2006 and always quite liked it (more for the cafe and views personally; but other companions like it for everything else as well). This year, I have to say I am disappointed and a bit concerned about how tired the place is looking. Over the years the tertiary shops outside have closed which adds to the tired look, and it seems to me the floor space of the shop itself seems to have shrunk and stock a lot more limited. It certainly seemed quieter than usual as well.

Two things which also disappoint me are the “Card Only” stance on all sales including the restaurant and also the “Pick a Pearl” which now is £40 a shot! I know times change, but back in 2006 when I first visited it was about £16 it was great value and even at about £25 3 or so years ago didn’t seem too bad. The “Card Only” stance is wrong in my view as it should be my choice how I pay.

I hope the place isn’t in terminal decline, but it certainly doesn’t seem to be quite the way it was and needs an urgent revamp.

Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review. I am sorry that you didn't like our freshly painted exterior and recently refurbished shop floor. In doing our renovations we were able to stock more collections and gained more cabinet space. Our preference is to take card payments. 16 years ago, the price of oyster pearls would have been a lot less but as they are saltwater pearls, they are affected by climate change and sea level rise which contributes to the cost of culturing pearls and can affect our prices, particularly over 16 years. The tertiary shops are used by other businesses and are by prior appointment only. If you would like further information on them, please give us a call.

Popped in for lunch, very friendly staff and a freshly made doorstep of a delicious sandwich (smoked salmon, cream cheese and cucumber ) served with a fresh salad and crisps. Sat by the windows overlooking the coast on a stunning winters day and it couldn’t have been more relaxing - this is defo a nice spot out of season. The cafe had a nice selection of hot and cold food, they offered gluten free and it boasted that all cakes are made on site. Thank you guys.

OHK to look at pearls and in fact bought one but really disappointed that they didn't seem to be taking COVID seriously. OK gel as you walk in and one way system at the door but that's it! Once inside it was a free for all and I had to keep backing away form other customers. Some staff although initially one each behind a counter soon clustered together with no screen/mask - are they immune really! Special people if they are.

Called in on the way back to our holiday cottage for a quick look around. Agree with a previous comment about the lack of COVID precautions. There was hand gel at the entrance but there was no one monitoring the number of visitors or asking for customer details. There was a Track and Trace barcode to scan, which everyone was ignoring. The shop is in a large square space and so a one way system could easily be created, but sadly once inside, it was a free for all, with people going in all different directions around the separate square counters.

With regard to the pearls and jewellery, there was lots of different goods to choose from and a range of prices to suit. I spent quite a lot of time looking at various pieces but no one asked if I needed any assistance. There appeared to be plenty of staff around but were too busy talking to each other.

I ended up leaving without purchasing anything as I wanted to have a think before making an impulse purchase. However I did not bother returning to buy anything. Did not use the cafe either so cannot comment on the facilities.

This review is for the cafe NOT the shop. Views were great, plenty of seating inside and out. It was also dog friendly. However, if you are planning to go for lunch you might want to think again. There were no menus so you couldn’t sit down outside and choose, you all had to go inside and see. The only thing that seems to be on the menu was a large or small deli plate. (Which seemed quite dear for what it was) this was all behind glass and was served by staff when you chose what items you wanted. Very odd, labour intensive and totally out of your control. If you are after cake, there seemed to be numerous types of sponge but as these were on the back counter behind where staff were serving so you couldn’t see what they were. Again, very odd. In the end we just opted for a pot of tea and went elsewhere for lunch.

Hi Gerowa, I am sorry you didn't enjoy our new Deli Café. We've currently made some changes, and are still fine tuning some elements as it progresses. We do have menus available to explain the deli plates and the rest of our menu which is made up of daily specials and sandwiches. I'm sorry none were available to you on your visit. The food and cakes are all behind glass to ensure no cross contamination can happen and are all clearly labelled. Our staff are more than happy to explain any of the cake and food options if you are unable to see the choices. I will pass your comments onto the café team as all feedback in welcomed. We do hope you'll try us again.

We have visited before and will no doubt visit again.
We went with the intent of my wife to purchase some earrings.
Because of the quality and variety on offer, it took ages for her to make her decision. The range is truly extensive with prices to suit most pockets.
In the end she opted for a pair which were designed and made on-site, unique.
We were served by a friendly and helpful assistant, Jackie (?). Her patience was admirable.

We visited the Pearl factory on the 29th October, during our short stay on the island . We were really impressed with the welcome and COVID set up .
We had some great food in the cafe which was dog friendly.
My daughter (16) and family friend (11)
Decided to do the pick a Pearl - cost £28
It was fantastic and a real experience . They got to choose their oyster and get a Pearl - which was weighed and valued .
I would definitely recommend this to visitors to the island.

Our coach party stopped here today for the shop and cafe, after a circular tour of the Isle.

On the plus side, my parents ordered 3x Expresso coffees instead of lattes, by accident. The member of staff rectified this mistake really helpfully when I popped back in a few minutes later. The service couldn't have been better. Prices were good and cakes looked very nice. I would certainly recommend.

A minor point though...

Apparently our coach driver, who chose this particular cafe out of all the many cafes available on the entire Isle of Wight, tried to cadge a free cuppa - and was refused!! This was a larger size coach with not a single seat empty, bringing 60 guests who all had food and drink there.

I know times are tough for small businesses, but it is fairly customary for coach drivers to get a much larger kickback... than the cost of a tea-bag!

Many of these coach drivers are weekly drivers to the Isle of Wight, throughout the year. At our hotel, there are ten of them here - and they all sit in a huddle for meals.

I think I know what the conversation will be today! And I suspect much future custom will be lost.

Just an opinion!

Shame, as this was a great little cafe stop. Thanks.

Hello! Thank you for the review. We are really pleased you enjoyed your visit to us. The driver was made aware of our booking in procedure and benefits explained to him when he called the previous day, however he then said he didn't want to book in. He then arrived the following day without notice and was very rude to several members of staff and has subsequently been asked not to visit again due to his behaviour. This is not something we ever do lightly but abuse to staff will never be tolerated by the company. If a driver is unaware of our booking policy, we would of course still offer them a complementary refreshment. If you have any further queries or comments, please email our manager at lizzie.wade@iowpearl.co.uk.
