Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

A fascinating little museum packed with all kinds of interesting things. There were a couple of great activities for kids to do too; my two daughters particularly enjoyed trying to find the anachronisms in the Victorian displays (clue: the smoke alarms and the humidity meters don't count).

A quick half-hour visit just before closing put us in touch with local history and so many interesting artifacts from Dunoon and Cowal.

It was raining and there isn't a lot to do in Dunoon when wet... however this visit more than made up for the weather!
This is a fascinating small museum and there is so much to read and take in, from the early history of the area to the Clan Lamont history and their legacy. Throw in information about droving, illicit whisky making, the love story of Highland Mary and then the later history of shipping and Dunoon as a tourist centre.... There is plenty for every interest.
Staff are lovely too - informative and welcoming. Don't just save this for a wet day!

A gem of a find in Dunoon, staff very helpful and informative, loved the place. I asked questions about the hotel where I was staying and they told me the history of it.

A beautiful historic building set in lovely garden. The museum tells the story of Dunoon's changes from neolithic times to modern day in an interesting display of exhibits. There is also a nice gift shop. Towards the end of the visit is a fun quiz.

We came over from Clydebank, especially to see the castle. Imagine our dismay when we found it to be closed for the winter. On your website, there is no mention of this.

A great LITTLE museum. It looks fab with the surrounding the gardens and the views across the bay are stunning from the lookout.
Its only £3 per adult to enter the museum which is good value as you could spend a good hour or so reading about the local history, looking at the local artifacts and there are some interactive exhibits that the children would enjoy also

Sorry don't know, but give them a call and ask. They are very friendly people. There are a lot of stairs up to the Castle House Museum, but there is also a slope and drive way up to it. Once in the Museum is up stairs, but there is a lift.
