Worth a climb up the hill at the castle. Stunning views. Castle itself has nice garden outside . Nice green for a picnic

Really interesting history. Lovely architecture. Thought provoking. I was only able to see the outside as closed due to Covide19.

Lovely town to stop off at enroute further north.
The town was very clean with some lovely old buildings.

Would suggest you climb to the top where the castle is to get the best view of the surrounding area

Superb location in attractive landscaped gardens on the coast of the Cowal Peninsular overlooking the Firth of Clyde. Offers great photographic opportunities.

Good value

A nice simple museum that’s excellent value for money and a nice example of past life in Dunoon.
Out side it’s worth the climb up the hill to the flagpole for excellent views of Dunoon and the firth is Clyde.

We didn’t go to the castle we went to the statue. It’s quite interesting finding about Mary. Great views where the statue is.

Great Views and Exercise Getting to the Top

The 12th century castle mound with steps up and accompanied by Highland Mary of Robet Burns fame. Great views of the Firth of Forth and of Dunoon with the museum and its gardens. A little run down and the access to Mary Campbell needs upgrading. Very little remains of the castle walls.

Great wee place to go & explore just don't do what I did & forget your camera! It's a good wee walk to the top,but you can take it at you're own pace as there are rails & places to stop & enjoy the view on the way up.

As a wee child I lived in Dunoon and I remember climbing the hill many times to sit and take in the beauty of the area. This was a must-do for me on my recent trip and it did not disappoint. Go see Highland Mary!
