Perfect visit
Jun 2021 • Couples
Amazing place.
The staff are very friendly and knowledge.
Very covid secure.
You can clearly see the osprey on the nest using the scopes they have set up for you.
The feeding station window is fantastic from red squirrels to woodpeckers you see all sorts.
We had a lovely woodland walk seeing wildlife and the blue bells.
I would highly recommend

An excellent, safe visit to see red squirrels
Oct 2020
We really enjoyed our visit. We felt very safe with all the precautions the centre had taken. The staff were friendly and helpful, giving us lots of information. We were lucky enough to see red squirrels, a pair of nuthatches and a woodpecker. The loch is beautiful.

A lovely, informative visit in the company of red squirrels!
Sep 2020
We loved visiting this site. The precautions in place for these Covid times made us feel very safe throughout the visit. The staff were friendly and welcoming and keen to pass their knowledge of wildlife on to us. The view of the loch from the hide is beautiful, though we were too late for the ospreys this time. We did see a large group of greylag geese on the water. The highlight for us on this visit was watching the red squirrels from the visitor centre - truly delightful! The SWT is working hard to protect these lovely little animals.

Ideal place to see red squirrels
Sep 2020
We booked our visiting slot online and arrived on time. We were met by a member of staff who explained what the routine was given the current circumstances. Our first stop was the upper hide where an informative & passionate volunteer took us through some of the history of the loch and the wildlife both that we could see & that lives on the loch during the year. Then we went to the main viewing window in the visitor centre where we watched local birds & red squirrels on the feeders.
It wasn't quite what we expected as we thought we would be able to walk around a nature reserve, however we really enjoyed it and would recommend it to others.

Amazing views and fabulous trees!
Feb 2020
Sitting in the bird hide overlooking the loch, the view is breath-taking, and that is without even the famous ospreys being there yet. Can't wait to come back in summer, and I can hardly believe how close you will be to all the action, rollin the summer!

Quite disappointing
Oct 2019 • Friends
We were quite disappointed at how little there was to see. I can’t really see why they’re charging people to look out a loch. I imagine we can look at any Loch anywhere else in Scotland for free.

I do understand that it wasn’t their fault that there wasn’t much to look at (a swan and some ducks). But I can’t help feeling short changed.

Quite poor in terms of facilities too. It just wasn’t a “wildlife centre”, just a hut, a coffee machine and a small gift shop.....

Hi 804sallyzzz Sorry to hear that you were disappointed with your visit. It does tend to get quieter when the weather changes. So we do drop the price and reduce the opening hours in the winter (1st Nov-29th Feb) to reflect that. We still get visitors throughout the winter who enjoy the quiet beauty of the loch and the bird activity at the viewing window. I would encourage you to visit again in the spring when the loch is really humming with activity and all the birds have returned to breed on or by the loch. We thank you for your comments and I hope that you'll allow us the opportunity to provide you with a great wildlife experience in the future. Emma Visitor Centre Assistant Manager

Nice place to see some Scotish wildlife.
Oct 2019
Was wanting to see red squirrels and that we did, we were in one of the hides, one of the guides rushed in saying the squirrels ate at the other hide, he then told us they were taking the food over the road by the carpark to their nest. we followed his advice and spot-on, the squirrels ran past, no more than three feet from us. Wonderful

Hi Charles, Thank you for your kind review. I am delighted that you enjoyed your visit here and were able to get some good views of the red squirrels. Yes, at this time of year the squirrels are busy burying their food to store for the winter months so are often seen running past carrying food. Hope to see you again. Kind regards, Amy Bastow Visitor Centre Assistant

Took a walk from Dunkeld. The walk is nice a lot of uphill but worth it. When we go to the visitor centre we saw many little birds caught sight of a red squirrel also. Nice to sit with a little coffee outside or in looking at the wild life.
