Intended to have a short visit to Tintern Abbey to have a quick look round. Hadn't been there for a while and was astounded to find it cost to get in. We didn't bother as we only intended a brief peep. The cost of £24...More

Tintern Abbey was very interesting (if you like history, which I do). The information boards in the various sections were informative and helped you understand what life was like for a twelfth century monk. It has a timeless ethereal beauty and the setting was lovely...More

I've visited Tintern Abbey a number of times, but this was my first time taking my own children (aged 2 and 4) and I wasn't sure they'd enjoy it. I was pleasantly surprised. I can't say it was the stunning architecture they were enjoying, though!...More

We took advantage of the spot of dry weather this morning to drive up from Chepstow to Monmouth, passing Tintern Abbey on the way. What a stunning site the Abbey is as you round the corner into the Village. A really Majestic site, set in...More

We visited and we're shocked at the price of the parking, this may be reimbursed IF you spend enough but was still a shock! The abbey was very beautiful but so wet underfoot that a lot was inaccessible and ended up very muddy and disappointed.

When you turn around with the car and it suddenly appears in front of your it looks so huge and intimidating. I was astonished by the image. I would definitely recommend the visit.

We recently visited Tintern Abbey while we were staying in Cardiff. Though the weather was quite chilly, we ended up staying over two hours, just walking around and taking it all in. It was the highlight of our 3-day trip in South Wales. Getting there...More

A great site to see if driving down to Wales from heathrow. We aren't the touristy type so this was perfect. A self guided tour and an overall excellent site.

The Abbey at Tintern is worth a visit. Peaceful, beautiful and very calming to be in. They have a couple of picnic benches if you fancy having your sandwiches inside. Well worth it. They reimburse your parking when you purchase an admission ticket, so remember...More

As the previous traveler wrote it is visible from A466. You can see quite a bit from its car park if you don't have time to go inside although it would be a shame to miss its grandeur.

Not sure about a train from Chepstow to Tintern Abbey but there is a regular bus service, the No 69, from Chepstow Bus Station. You need to check the times online but in rough order, peak week days, evey 35 mins and then... More
