- jamie h12 contributionsAVOID!!!!!!! Concert spoilt by parking issues and rip off fees!2.5 hours to get out of a car park after a concert!!!! One road in - One road out!!!! Dreadful set up - no way should be allowed to host a major concert, just cannot cope with the amount of people! Terrible logistics that let people down. How can a concert finish at 11pm and you can’t get out of the complex until 2am? Chepstow… what a joke!!!Visited June 2023Travelled with friendsWritten 30 June 2023
- Emma P3 contributionsParkingFantastic concert ruined by car park issues Concert finished at 11 got out of the car park at 1.20 absolute joke. No staff in sight to organise anything!!! My opinion…simply can’t handle the pressure of a big event. As for the prices of food/drink, complete rip off. Won’t be attending another concert there that’s for sure.Visited June 2023Travelled with friendsWritten 30 June 2023
- Rhi5647Bristol, United Kingdom8 contributionsDisgraceful car park managementArriving at the concert Marshall’s everywhere aggressively waving you in, but easy to park. Getting out is a nightmare!!! We get it, 8,000-10,000 people all leaving at the same time is far from ideal. But not a Marshall to be seen, people taking down barriers to access other areas of the field, agitated drivers creating their own lanes, no movement for over an hour, drunk pedestrians weaving their way between the cars, no signs of where the exits even were!! Chepstow go and take a leaf out of other venues, Westonbirt for example. Again let me reiterate you’re never going to get out in 5 minutes, we weren’t expecting it, but putting all the staff on the road, in groups just chatting….that’s not management!Visited July 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 1 July 2023
- maria w4 contributionsDO NOT PARK IN THE CHEPSTOW RACECOURSEDO NOT PARK YOUR CAR HERE! Lionel Ritchie, Gabrielle and Sugarbabes were brilliant. One hour and a half to get out the car park - not good. It was total chaos and we left before Lionel had finished. - 947mikerNewport, United Kingdom9 contributionsparking from hellWe went to see Lionel Richie at Chepstow racecourse. On arrival there were plenty of martials showing you where to park. The concert was really good, but at the end of the night when we tried to leave the car park the nightmare began. It was utter chaos. Not a martial in sight to assist the traffic out of the venue. People were driving in all directions not knowing where the exit was. It was in my opinion a very dangerous situation to be put in. It took us over an hour and a half to reach the exit. Please note there is only one way in and one way out of this venue. Be prepared for long delays. This is very bad management. The parking was not cheap and we deserved much better service. This put a total dampener on our evening . We will not return to this racecourse.Visited June 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 2 July 2023
- worthalookCaerphilly, United Kingdom2 contributionsDisorganized chaosWe went for the Lionel Richie concert. Purchased VIP parking for the event. The whole event went well, even though we missed Gabrielle due to poor traffic management at the entrance. But after the concert finished, it went seriously downhill. We left two songs before the end but due to even worse traffic management we took two hours to get out of the racecourse. It was so bad, we will never go back to watch another event thereVisited June 2023Travelled with friendsWritten 2 July 2023

- Gemma PCheltenham, United Kingdom6 contributionsPoor parking management spoilt an otherwise good event.I went to the George Ezra concert with my brother and our children (4 girls aged 4-11) and paid extra for VIP parking (big mistake!). We arrived around 6:30pm and there was some queuing but nothing too excessive, I had problems loading my parking tickets (despite preloading them as advised in advance) but the 2 staff members I dealt with regarding this issue were very friendly and helpful and we got in after a slightly detour to find wifi. VIP parking was close to the main arena which was nice (at this point). A few toilets dotted around the car park which was useful. Inside the arena the portaloos were plentiful and kept clean. When we finally reached the exit road, the only way to access it was to force your way in between vehicles that were understandably unwilling to let people out. Once out of the main roads, the journey home was smooth. With an event of this size, delays leaving the car park are to be expected, but to not move an inch in 1.5 hours is not normal. I can't say I'll be in a rush to go back to an event at Chepstow Racecourse, but if I do I would park somewhere further away and walk. In the unlikely event that I do park at the racecourse I definitely wouldn't pay extra for VIP parking!Visited July 2023Travelled with familyWritten 3 July 2023

22 colleagues, all male, started out visiting racecourses in 1996 celebrating 25 years since graduating from Cardiff University in 1971. But over the intervening 27 years the graduate complement dwindled to 5 but has been added to by "guys from the pub" - since about the year 2000 numbering a dozen. We look forward to our gatherings -now a ritual - but couldn't help but notice that the hospitality at Chepstow improved dramatically a few years back - maybe coincident with when ARC took over running the facility. Everyone remarked on it at the time so this review is a congratulations in doing that - keep it up and please pay the staff a huge bonus. From the hospitality administrators to the staff in the View restaurant the whole "experience delivery" is excellent. Well done y'all.

Went for a night meeting Tuesday 11th July. Donna the bar manager was exceptional in her service and managing the staff. It’s true that staff are most important part of the business and in this case you won’t get many better than Donna - thank you

It's probably a bit unfair of me to leave a negative review on the Chepstow Racecourse section of TripAdvisor but not sure where else to provide feedback on what I can best describe as disorganised chaos regarding transportation to and from the George Ezra concert held at the racecourse.
A week or so before the concert we received notification that on-site parking was fully booked and to use the venue's park and ride options. The only website I could find any coherent details of what those park and ride options were and their locations was at the racecourse's website.
Park and ride was booked at the nearby David Broome Event Centre seemingly a 10 minute bus journey away (the other option was UWE in Bristol which was more than 20 minutes bus journey away).
Signage to the park and ride was sparse when heading in to the park and ride via the westbound side of the M4.
To be fair, parking at the park and ride was easy and then a walk up the hill to catch a bus - only 1 bus was there and a long queue.
Lots of confusion and mis-information regarding whether you could or could not take a folding chair in to Chepstow Racecourse for the concert - concert staff on site appeared mis-informed "by what their manager told them" compared to the information o TicketMaster's website and emails.
The bus left the park and ride but after about 5 minutes the speed reduced to a crawl travelling 100 yards every 10 minutes or so. The entire journey took over an hour with several passengers requesting the bus stop so they could get off and walk to the concert. There was zero traffic management in place although an event traffic management company had vehicles dotted around but from what we saw their staff seemed overwhelmed and stopping traffic from parking in residential streets adjacent to the main road, hence causing queuing traffic in both directions, and hence the delay.
The lack of a dedicated bus route to/from the concert being a total lack of planning and forethought by the concert organisers and their seemingly incompetant traffic management contractor.
When we eventually got to the drop off point there was then a long walk down to the concert. Though a long walk it gave us an opportunity to look across at the "fully sold out" parking. Given that the concert had already started, but taking in to account that some percentage of cars were held up in the same traffic chaos which our bus had endured there was still a large amount of the car park which was empty, and large areas of the car park (both tarmac areas and grassed areas) were barriered off for no logical reason. The extended journey time in to the concert meant we missed the first supporting act. Actual entry through security was very quick.
After the concert we again did the long walk back to the park and ride drop off/pick up area. Stewards were shouting which queue to join, probably due to the lack of signage. We joined a queue which snaked through barriers towards the only bus waiting. It soon filled and then there was a long pause until another bus arrived. This continued for about an hour then all of a sudden several buses appeared at once : I joked that the public bus timetable in Chepstow must have just ended as multiple buses then appeared out of nowhere. But having queued for an hour the queue was then split in half with folks behind us then boarding a bus whilst those around us were still progressing through our queue to board the bus in front of us.
When we did eventually board the bus it was a complete health and safety disaster waiting to happen: Passengers sat on the steps up to the upper deck of the bus and standing the in the aisle of the bus; Children's pushchairs (with child) in the aisles. Any harsh braking or driving and passengers would have been thrown about.
The return journey was significantly better time-wise: taking about 15 minutes. Police cars and what appeared to be local highways officers were dotted along the route and sections of the road were coned off to allow the buses to drive along without congestion, in fact I think this "dedicated bus route" was "on the wrong side of the road", with cars travelling along the left hand side. I say that because we traversed at least 1 roundabout "going the wrong way round".
But it was clear that someone "must have finally got the memo" regarding creating a dedicated bus route.
Overall total chaos fuelled by seemingly a lack of management in place to operate parking and transportation to and from a concert venue.
Reading other reviews it seems this is not an isolated incident.
Very unlikely we would come to watch a concert in Chepstow again - we've been to several concerts at venues up and down the UK, and been to sporting events up and down the UK.
This is by far the worst experience I've endured - disorganised, poorly signed, unsafe, chaotic, total lack of management. I don't know who Chepstow racecourse and/or the concert organisers use to plan, manage and operate their traffic management, parking and park & ride systems but whoever they use are clearly incapable of operating these systems on this scale.

Visited for the first time with family, we booked VIP parking and arrived early. We were able to park right near to the venue and enter in reasonable time. Security was tight which was good, bags were searched and body scanners used. I have never visited a racecourse before that allows camping chairs in so that was great.
Queues for the food and drink stalls were extremely long, so much so that we missed the start of the concert. Refreshments were extremely expensive though to be fair that is the norm for racecourses.
George Ezra was fantastic, brilliant set and our group really enjoyed it.
We left just before the penultimate song thinking this would assist with a quick getaway given that we had my young niece with us. How wrong we were, it took us three hours to get out of the VIP car park (I should hate to have been in the standard parking if that was VIP!). There were no marshals and no orderly queues, it was generally like the wild west with everyone getting really annoyed, horns being sounded and people barging in where they could. We even saw one yellow car where two ladies leaped out and in desperation uprooted a fence panel to try and secure a different route out! Oddly, immediately after they did this someone came and replaced it before they could get through so they were blatantly aware there was a major issue and just ignoring it.
When we eventually managed to exit the parking it was nearly 2am and we encountered the only marshal we had seen in 3.5 hours. This person was right at the exit waving his arm at people, what the purpose of that was I will never know, he was stood next to a light up sign which read “drive faster”, talk about taking the mickey and encouraging dangerous driving!
An absolute shambles and an extremely disappointing end to a great concert. I live 200 miles away and could’ve got home quicker than I got out of that car park, it was absolutely diabolical and whoever “organised” this should be ashamed. I will not be going here again which is a great shame as it is a great venue other than the parking nightmare.

What a joke, went to watch George Ezra last night with young kids, 3 hours to get out of the field we were parked in. Didn’t get home until 2am.
Apparently this is normal
Never again will I go to a concert at Chepstow racecourse

Drove from Sunderland to Bristol, then Bristol sat in another 2 hours traffic while the poor parking management tried to sort the mess of the parking out!!
Ended up parking in a nearby spa shop & leaving the car.
The whole place was abit of a shambles, not providing any seating areas, queues were a mile long for everything. I got my deodorant took of me, that’s fine, but people were sneaking drink in left right & centre!!
My daughter felt safer out of the crowd.
£13 for one small pizza & £2.30 for a bottle with of water.
George was only on a hour & 20 mins max!! He must have been stuck in traffic as well

I went to the George Ezra concert with my brother and our children (4 girls aged 4-11) and paid extra for VIP parking (big mistake!).
The bar service was also well managed and quick. However the queues for food were ridiculous (queuing in excess of 1 hour), thank goodness we ate before arriving.
Unfortunately the enjoyable concert was spoilt somewhat by the car park management on exit. Firstly, buying VIP parking was a big mistake, closest to the arena but furthest from the exit so essentially at the back of the queue. It took 2 hours to get out, 1.5 hours of which we were at a complete standstill with the engine switched off. Cars everywhere with no idea which direction we were meant to head in. When it became apparent there was no way out where I was, I diverted towards the moving traffic, got stuck on a hill and started to slide backwards, thankfully I was able to approach from a different angle more successfully.
In the unlikely event that I do park at the racecourse I definitely wouldn't pay extra for VIP parking!

We are coming to races and madness on Saturday. We have tickets for the main enclosure only. Are there any seats anywhere as my husband has a bad back and can't stand all day. Thanks.

How far is the owners and trainers car park from the enclosures? Have a dog which has a broken leg which has to be left in the car but checked on regularly.
