What a beautiful place to go and see, a most wonderful piece of architecture taking you back to the careful thought and process the architects took to design these buildings in those days.
The shear beauty of the inside of the Opera house the amazing brickwork design the metal work. The galley, tearoom, ice cream parlour. The Buxton Opera house is a pleasure on the eye with great history's fabulous place to visit.

Just been to an absolute car crash of a performance. It was supposed to be an interactive experience using Wi-Fi within the theatre. This failed and only a small number of the audience were able to participate. The rest of us were left watching what was effectively a PowerPoint presentation with no involvement. This fiasco was left to carry on with no acknowledgment, or even awareness initially , from the management. This was despite the audience repeatedly shouting it was not working. The honest response would be to offer refunds but I don’t suppose I’ll be seeing my £65 again

We went to see Tommy Emanuel in this stunning building which has been beautifully restored. The sound quality and view from the upper circle were both excellent.

Concert by Tommy Emanuel here at this iconic venue. Old school theatre. Great views from the circle. Always a pleasure to visit. Recommended

Firstly I never stop admiring Frank Markhams interior of this opera house truly beautiful art nouveau part baroque interior beautifully painted frescos and stucco work, reminiscent of his creation the winter gardens and Tower ballroom at Blackpool. Tonight's performance one night only of SWAN Lake totally superb the star who played Siegfried in the 2nd act was so graceful and the skill of his rising falling and landing was superb but all of the artists were truly wonderful through both acts the orchestra was superb we had a wonderful evening and the staff of the opera House exellent and professional both of us can't recomend enough

We came to see Ross Noble and were blown away by the Opera House. Not only is it a beautiful, well maintained venue but also a fantastic auditorium. You feel as though you are very close to the stage and there is no need to use the opera glasses.

Would definitely come back again.

Went to see Aladdin with the family. Previous to COVID we went every year, I don’t know if we’ve just outgrown Buxtons pantos but although it was a different panto title it seemed very samey. Same launderette sketch, same ‘someone behind you’ sketch, same unfunny innuendos. The scene where Widow Twanky sings with 2 other chaps was dire. No original panto songs only pop songs you can hear on any radio station. Definitely not enjoyed as much as previous years.
COVID precautions virtually non existent. No social distancing in foyer or theatre, masks were on until people took their seats then the majority removed them despite being asked to keep them on.
Buxton is a lovely old theatre and we were so looking forward to seeing a live performance again, unfortunately the whole experience just left us feeling a tad disappointed.

Another fantastic night at this beautiful building, we went to watch "A Fairy Tale of New York" a great performance which we thoroughly enjoyed.

All the voluntary helping staff are so pleasant and friendly.

I was a little surprised to see people on the front row of the dress circle being allowed
to stand up dancing, as it is so near the balcony edge.

We visited the Opera House on Sunday 14th November to see The Magic of Motown.
The performers were really very good, however the sound quality, balance and mix were appalling. Backing vocals were inaudible. It did slightly improve in the second half. Cranking up the volume of everything just made it worse.
Not sure if it was an 'in house' sound engineer or one travelling with the band.
We also believed dancing in the upper circle was not allowed. Couldn't see half the show!

Fabulous interior to this magnificent old building. Went to see the Average White Band play, and the acoustics did not disappoint for a building designed long before amplified music. Very good evening of entertainment. Will definitely visit again.
