Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Stunning! Beautiful gardens and an arboretum that's really taking shape. Lovely walks on twisty paths.
Popped to cafe for tea and cake - this is well worth doing. Cake amazing! Staff delightful and so friendly. A real treat.

Plenty of parking space. Great setting and fantastic views of surrounding countryside. Splendid walled garden. Liked everything about these gardens. We spent about 90 minutes strolling around. Nice area set aside for refreshments with very pleasant lady serving. Toilets on site. We would certainly visit again and would recommend.

This is such a special tranquil place - only open on Wednesday’s in the summer but really worth the journey

You can bring picnic but the cafe does great scones and cake - only 1 lunch option of plouhhmans a bit disappointing but cakes good

Not busy like NT Hidcote - and honestly just better

Take a book and chill

We are seasoned garden visitors & had not visited BG before so this certainly lived up to our expectations. Saying that we always visit gardens with an open mind, especially this year because of the lack of rain & extreme heat. BG did not disappoint! Yes a few things had suffered because of the heat but that's expected. There is a vast arboretum to walk around & formal areas nearer the entrance. The tea room is good & reasonably priced. Will definitely visit again.

Excellent garden to visit - open each Wednesday (May to September) but also open four weekends a year via the National Open Garden scheme.

Lots of different styles of garden to see - I loved the walled garden mixing fruit/veg and traditional flowers - plus the stumpery too! But they also have a wildflower meadow, formal deep borders, an arboretum and a bog garden too so something for everyone!

The views across the Oxfordshire countryside are amazing and we also enjoyed the tea lawn (with tasty cakes and creams teas).

Allow a couple of hours to see it all. Free parking on site and £9 entry fee.

Certainly one of the best gardens we have ever seen & we have been to many. It is magical, immaculately kept, a little of everything on offer. The staff are incredibly helpful , facilities super quality. If you are fortunate to be in the Banbury area on a Wednesday don’t bother with the Castle ,we’ll do both if you feel so inclined , we just took a curious look , took a video abs walked the cemetery of the church but in a glorious day didn’t fancy an indoor tour so headed back to the gardens for Earl Grey and a barefoot stroll through the wildflower meadow .Over 3000 trees planted in the Arboretum in 2000, wherever you look no expense has been spared on this piece of paradise . I wish I lived closer.

Beautiful extensive garden - really liked the walled garden designed by Tom Stuart-Smith.

However, I was deeply sadden by the extensive use of peat blocks sourced from Scotland and more recently from Eastern Europe.

Peatlands are a globally threatened and valuable wildlife habitat as well as being an important carbon store. Such a shame.

Beautiful gardens designed by Tom Stuart-Smith, lovely naturalist style planting and more formal parts too. The staff in the coffee/ticket kiosk were super friendly and polite. Courgette cake was a winner!! Plenty of places to shelter in and out the rain, we spent two hours wandering the gardens, for £9, it was good value for money.
