Piers that are open are rare these days so the opportunity to walk on the sea has to be taken. Not the longest pier but worth it for the local artwork alone and quite busy. We were fortunate enough to also be on it when the starlings came in to roost at dusk and the murmuration fantastic.

Its a lovely pier with Ice cream kiosk, gaming arcade , Perch on the Pier restaurant and views of the coast line is amazing. Its nice to just stroll along and glass windows are beautifully illustrated. Parking near pier is free on weekends and after 6 pm on weekdays.

NZ cousin loved our pier. She thought the glass was fantastic and so original. Perch on the pier restaurant highly recommended.

We like a stroll on Worthing pier when visiting and the weather permits. We especially enjoy the ice cream which comes from the kiosk on the pier and is very resonably priced.

I last visited the pier 45 years ago and, apart from the penny machines no longer being there, little seems to have changed, which is as it should be.

Reviewing the new Perch on the Pier. Having to leave a review here because Trip Advisor doesn't seem to know about the new restaurant at the end of Worthing Pier, and kept trying to make me review their sister outlet in Lancing.
Firstly, the position is great, what's been done to the interior is also great, and the atmosphere was buzzy. All the staff we encountered, from he initial meet & greet through the waiting staff to Matt who was scurrying about delivering drinks to the tables were really top notch, with attitudes that couldn't be faulted.
I had a "pick a protein, pick a plate, add a sauce" lunch which involves choosing from either steak or fish, basically, then adding a saladey-type accompaniment and a dressing. For the price point of £15 this was fine, and the after-meal coffee was delicious. Unfortunately, my partner wasn't so lucky; being a mussels lover, he went straight for the Drunken Mussels: "A whopping kilo of mussels, steamed in cider, bacon, shallots finished with cream. With a side of fries and crusty bread for dunkin' 14.50". They had been smashed during the cooking process, meaning that nearly every mouthful included a helping of shell shard. It also meant he had no trust that the mussels had opened naturally during the cooking process, and hadn't been smashed hard enough to open, meaning they could have been "off". Sian, who was waiting, dealt with the situation perfectly, whisked it all away, and in record time produced a substitute. Unfortunately, this was exactly the same. This told us that there's inadequate supervision in the kitchen. Having been told once that this had happened, you'd never expect a competent chef to allow the same thing to leave his kitchen a second time. However, they did their best to make amends by providing my husband with a 2nd meal of his choice (the hamburger, which he said was mediocre, but having just gone through the experience above he was never going to be thrilled) and declaring at the end that we wouldn't be billed for anything at all, including my meal! The front-of-house staff were seriously depleted, but in spite of being short-staffed they never failed to interact appropriately with their customers. Three times the room was silenced by the most enormous crashes; sounded like towers of plates being dropped!
The Ladies' loos are really good and kitted out to a high standard. Might sound odd to mention it here, but they're the type with the basin inside each cubicle, which I always prefer. Only problem is that there was no hook on the back of the door on which to hang your coat or bag, and no shelf underneath the mirror on which to put your lipstick. comb etc having hunted them out of your bag. Little things, I know, but girls will understand where I'm coming from here...!

When ever we visit Worthing we always head for the pier. It is the focal point of the seafront and has a certain charm about it. The coloured windows down the centre are interesting to look at when walking along the pier and you get good views along the coastline in both directions.

The lovely old pier was originally built in 1862 and during its lifetime has been rebuilt, repaired and renovated a number of times. At the landward end there are the usual seaside amusements, cafes and shops in the central area seats and shelter from the wind and rain and at the far end another pavilion. I believe you can also fish from the end of the pier FOC. Entry is free.
