Some of the reviews below saying ‘snobs’ and not welcome absolutely astound me!!

I visited today and unfortunately my father couldn’t play due to an injured back, and they graciously gave him a full refund whilst I played by myself (with him walking around with me). Course was in fantastic condition, only one or two holes I wasn’t a fan of otherwise it is superb. Played off the tips where they play the Open and it is a strong test even with not much wind!

The clubhouse is very old and charming, the waitress’ were all lovely, the young gent in the pro shop was great, the hall porter was great, and a few members I met were not snobby at all, they were incredibly pleasant!!

5 stars Lytham. Thank you and I’ll be back and encourage others to spend their money here.

Not what you expect
Aug 2020
This was the final one of the three Royal courses in the North West Ea gland. Would I rush back no. Had to park on the street, good COVID precautions in place. Course is in good nick but is missing something. Starting with a par three which is nothing special but some good holes later on. The final hole is great. Was there as a golf day and 47 points won it betterball 90%.

Would I go back and pay the prices no but I would go Royal Liverpool , Royal Birkdale but if you want real value for money go to a Royal st Davids or Silloth.

Disappointed
Jan 2020 • Solo
I have always held this course in the highest regard.I remember the year that Paul McGinley was knocking on the door of winning the Open Championship here,so near and yet so far! What a course, without doubt in my top ten within GB and Ireland.Sadly it reminds me of some courses,Muirfield,Wentworth,Old Head of Kinsale,Malone Golf club,to name but a few, close the door behind you on the way out if you manage to get in.I take my hat off to Sunningdale Golf Club who embrace the true spirit of golf, making you aware of the difficulties of the course but still show you a truly engaging and memorable visit to Berkshire!

Wonderful Royal Lytham & St Annes
Nov 2019
There is so much golf history at this wonderful club. One of the 3 Royals on the English Golf Coast around Liverpool/Blackpool and quite different from Hoylake and Birkdale. 200+ bunkers throughout the course and 17 of them on the 18th. Lytham is a seriously good golf course and one where you have to place the ball strategically to score well. Like so many of the courses on the Open rota, online bookings are easy and you are made very welcome by house staff and the pro shop. As an Aussie, you think about Adam Scott throwing away the Open at Lytham in the last 4 holes in 2012 and Seve's 2 wins in 1979 and 1988. Just a fabulous golfing experience on a links course where every hole is a gem.

Superb Formal Evening Function
Nov 2019 • Friends
This is not a golfing revue but rather a revue of Royal Lytham as a function venue. The atmosphere and ambience of the clubhouse is superb, the entrance hall has an enormous log fire which sets the tone for the whole experience. The bar and ancillary facilities leave nothing to disappoint, the catering and service are first class, every detail is spot on. The excellent reputation of Royal Lytham is very well deserved.

Great stay and golf
Sep 2019
I am a non golfer but having a husband who is a golfer and played quite a few golf courses and have stayed at lots of golf hotels and walked round the course as a 'caddie' the dormy house is lovely, very clean, very comfortable, and has wonderful views of the golf course. We both loved it, the course, was very good, my husband loved it and although the first play in late afternoon it was rainy and very windy was challenging and enjoyable. We then had dinner included which is served between 7.30-8.30 and is a set menu, you can call if you have any requirements but it as fabulous, three course and came quickly and plenty of staff to attend to your needs. the breakfast the next day you could choose, but it was a nice choice and came very quickly with very good staff. we had a lovely stay and would recommend to any real golfer. Lovely place with great, friendly staff.

We came here on mizuno pairs day the colf course is the best I've ever played but experience went down hill when we came off the 18th the clubhouse looks stunning from the outside but as you go up stairs it feels inviting we were only allowed in a side room which only seats about 30 people I ordered large fish and chips the fish was frozen including the chips and the peas where burnt the staff which where young girls were ot friendly at all to me they spend all there efforts on the course and not what's in the club house which should be has important

Historic golf location
Jun 2019 • Friends
This was the last of the three Royal courses we played on this trip.
The weather was awesome which presented challenges with the fairways as the ball ran and ran, in my case , into bunkers!
Get there in plenty of time to take in the history of the place and also to examine the memorabilia.
Some tips include the following;
Bring plenty of money - more expensive than other two Royal courses.
No pictures allowed either inside or outside clubhouse!
No shorts allowed in the bar.

Whilst a privilege to play here and I would go back it would be a complete experience if they could relax somewhat and be more welcoming to visitors.

Amazing golf experience!
Jun 2018 • Solo
I played two rounds at Royal Lytham & St Annes this past June. Frankly it was simply my favorite course of the six I played on this trip. I was well received by the Hall Porter who showed me to my room in the Dormy. The rooms are beautiful and the beds are incredibly comfortable! Perfect after traveling and playing golf all day.
The course was in perfect condition. The putting surfaces really smooth. After the round showered and had dinner in the club house which was fantastic. The members I dined with were very welcoming and thrilled I was enjoying their course and hospitality.
After dinner a perfect nights sleep in the Dormy. A Full English breakfast in the club house and another round of golf.
I was sad to leave! I am returning to play again this coming September. If traveling through Northwest England I suggest playing a round or two. It is the best of three Royal golf venues in the area!

Lunch and Golf
Sep 2018
Played here just after the British Ladies Open and it was in superb condition. After a delightful and not too expensive lunch four of us played round this championship links from the forward tees. Even from this shorter distance it is still a challenging course for all but the elite golfer.
