- William P1 contributionGem of a placeAn absolute gem of a museum. My Father was heavily involved in the fishing industry and seeing all the models and photos of boats and people he knew made his day. Memories came flooding back to him of a time now long gone.Your review is lovely to read! We're so pleased that you and your father enjoyed your visit and it took him back to his days gone by. We were a little nervous about taking our three year old to a "proper" museum but he was mesmerised! - Forest_ramblerPeterborough, United Kingdom5 contributionsSuperb nautical museum - a hidden gemSuperb little museum packed to the gunnels with historical nautical artefacts, photos and information. Display subjects range through local fishing industry history, boat design and building, boat models, wartime, hovercraft development and even trendy fishermen's fashion! Run by friendly, helpful and knowledgeable volunteers. The admission price of £2 is ridiculous - should be at least twice as much!Thank you very much for your lovely feedback, which we will share on our Facebook page! Let's be honest. When I learned this museum was created and run by volunteers I lowered my expectations. How wrong can you be? It is amazing. The displays are interesting, informative, and the reconstructions, ship's wheelhouse, fish market, etc are well designed and built and really tell a story. There is a lot to see and much to learn if you want to read details. Well worth visiting. Fully recommended.

Lovely museum with very friendly & helpful people running it.
We took our grandchildren 3 & 8 years old to have a look round and was pleasantly surprised. Not only is it very informative with plenty of models and other items to view that you expect in a museum, they also have a school room for children. In here they can dress up in various clothes from pirates to captains, do quizzes, puzzles, colouring and generally play. This really helps when you have young children who get board easily and there's something in there for all ages.
My 3 year old is obsessed with Titanic at the moment and we saw the one model, when we came out the man asked if he'd seen the other model he said no and the man took him back in to show him. They also gave the 8 year old a book on various ships through the ages.
Throughout the museum there are cards that explain what everything is.
We thoroughly enjoyed our time here and although its small would highly recommend especially if you have children. Also don't forget to sign the visitors book.
After coming out there is also a play park in the grounds and a bar/restaurant.

A wonderful gem of a museum packed with interesting historical artefacts. A huge array of model ships and information about all aspects of maritime history including boat building and wartime events. The couple running the museum were friendly, warm and very knowledgable. The gift shop was very reasonably priced. Would highly recommend it.

This was one of the finds of our holiday. Spent over an hour exploring excellent displays and I reckon that if you visited 10 times you would still find something new.
The staff were very friendly and able to answer any question thrown their way.
Well stocked shop to top it all.
