It is worth popping into the Heritage Centre as it is an interesting place to visit, situated in a timber framed building and there is a nice courtyard with a statue of King Canute. We were welcomed by a lady who took us to an exhibition about the May Day Queens with some dresses on show and various crowns. She then took us through to have a look at the fantastic Millenium Tapestry which is 40ft long and contains 6,500,000 stitches across three panels and over 3000 people worked on the stitching.

A wonderful little discovery while in the village of Knudson. Has a number of items regarding local history as well as an amazing work of tapestry. Six and A half million stitches, along with four years in the making, the tapestry depicts not only the roads of the village but also the buildings on them. An absolute visual marvel.
Graham, whose wonderful knowledge guided us around the centre, explaining also many other items also on display, including those associated with the traditional May Day celebrations.
All a wonderful treat.

A small heritage centre set in a beautiful little garden. The main focus is on the amazing tapestry of the town that was created by thousands of people for the millennium. Many thanks to Caroline for explaining the process involved. We loved the May Queen display too. A lovely lace to visit

We had a lovely welcome. The ladies in the centre were really knowledgeable and passionate. We were told how Knitsford got its name. We went to the gallery, there was a huge tapestry of the whole town, completed by hundreds of different people for the millennium. It was fascinating. There were boards of info to read. We thoroughly enjoyed it. Back at the front was a small but interesting shop. We enjoyed our visit here.

On Sat 9/10/21 I took my granddaughter to Tatton Park in Knutsford and passed by the Knutsford Heritage Centre. We were invited in by a very kind lady called Mary to have a look round. If not for her we would have missed this little gem of the town. She showed us amongst other interesting traditions of the town this wonderful tapestry made by a group of people and intrigued us with the minute details handwoven in the fabrics. My granddaughter was so happy with this short detour and of course the walk in the Tatton Park. Thank you, Mary🙏

I have been visiting Knutsford for more years than I care to remember! However, in the future I shall view it with much more interest and knowledge.

I recently joined a group for a Walk and Talk event (1hr.,45mins).We chose "People and Places". Our very pleasant guide led us around various parts of the town and pointed out interesting details about the different buildings, mentioning famous people who had been associated with them. It was fascinating.
Then followed a talk, back at the charming Heritage Centre, about the Knutsford Millenium Tapestry. This proved to be a real source of interest as probably every house in the town was embroidered on to the tapestry (even to a dog on someone's back lawn!).

I can't recommend this place enough. The Knutsford Heritage Centre is a credit to all the volunteers. Thank you to all of you.

Called at Knutsford to have a look at this Museum as we were unable to visit it a couple of weeks previously when we were there. What a pleasant surprise to see this small Museum largely about a tradition (May Queen celebrations) which was once popular in many towns and villages throughout the UK. It is great to see that it is still celebrated in Knutsford. It was amazing to see so much information, dresses and other memorabilia from past celebrations. Also the Museum houses the Millenium tapestry of Knutsford in three sections. This is a fantastic piece of work and something which should be seen if visiting the town.

Make some time to stop at this wonderful and very friendly visitor center. Incredible Knutsford Tapestry stitched by numerous Knutsford residents. Volunteers gave a most informative history and there is a gift shop with unusual gifts. Well worth 30 minutes of your time.

This visitors centre is well worth a visit to get the most out of this lovely town. The staff were really helpful and friendly. The highloght however is to keep going to a back room where there is a Millennium Tapestry sewn by the residents. It is really extensive and is part of a larger and ever changing exhibition. It is well worth getting one of the staff to talk you through the tapestry which shows all the streets and landmarks of the town. There are some sweet little features that really tell a story too- I'll leave you to discover those for yourself!
