Welcome to Love Orkney Tours, a family business providing private bespoke tours to show off the Mainland of Orkney. Presenting historical marvels, hidden gems off the beaten track and even beaches where we can paddle (if you dare) skim stones, and have a picnic. We are qualified as Green Badge driver guides for Orkney, your tour will be in our own fully licensed and insured vehicles.

We were so fortunate to find Mary as our guide around the Neolithic sites of Orkney. Our trip has been so enriched by her knowledge of the history of this area and Scotland. She’s an excellent driver and a ton of fun to be with. We had a lot of questions about word origins, and she knew everything.

Mary provided us with a splendid day tour, which managed to cover a lot of ground without feeling rushed or pressured. We were able to visit Skara Brae (in the morning sunshine), Skaill House, the Ring of Brodgar, the Standing stones of Stenness, as well as the Churchill Barriers and the Italian Chapel and even had some free time at the end in Kirkwall to see St Magnus Cathedral and the museum. Overall, a first rate experience with many happy memories. Mary was so friendly, thoughtful and gracious - a great ambassador for Orkney.

Had a tour of Orkney with Mary this week. She met us off the cruise ship in Kirkwall and her vehicle was spacious and very clean. Mary was very friendly and helpful and gave us some really good information about the islands and what it’s like to live there. She was happy to adjust the schedule according to our needs. Oh and there were biscuits! We were very lucky to have gorgeous weather in the morning, making our visit to Scara Brae an absolute delight. I hope to come back for longer next time.

Our tour guide, Mary, offered our group a delightful, interesting and fun tour of the Kirkwall and surrounding areas of Orkney. Her skill as a tour guide were unsurpassed. Mary provided just the right amount of information and was warm and congenial to the group.

Mary was a wonderful tour guide. Before travelling to Orkney Mary and I corresponded by email and she took the time to find out what I wanted to see. This meant that when we went out the itenery was planned to ensure everything I had mentioned was included . Mary also gave lots of good information about places to eat and other attractions to visit. We had a great time, it felt like I was out and about with an old friend.

Cruise Excursions took me to Mark because NCL was sold out. In between poor ship communications, late ships, late tenders, early departures, I was relieved beyond belief to find Mark patiently standing at the fenceline with my name card in hand. He had been coordinating with NCL tour providers to know just how much time we really had to get back to ship and how we needed to adapt the plan. I had a marvelous tour of the major sites with photos opps you NEVER get from a bus. Mark is extremely knowledgeable and clearly in love with the island. It was a pleasure to get to meet his wife Mary in our wanderings. When I return, they will be my first contact. You will never be disappointed going with Love Orkney.

We spent a wonderful half day on a tour of Orkney's sites. Mary customized our trip so we hit all of the sites we wanted to see. She kept the trip interesting for us and our three boys (20, 18, and 16) and even brought along local treats for us to try. I would highly recommend spending a day in Orkney with Love Orkney Tours!
