We had a great day with Kinlay discovering Orkney's wartime heritage. We went to places we never would have visited by ourselves and learned a lot in the process. The drone view of the sites was an unexpected bonus and an excellent way to see wartime structures in their context. Kinlay was extremely knowledgeable and friendly and it was one of the highlights of our trip. We would love to go on another tour with him in the future.

I have wanted to see the archaeological sites on Orkney for many years and Kinlay was a wonderful guide. Scara Brae, Ring of Brodgar and Broch of Gurness did not disappoint. His tour also covered my other interests on history (Earls Palace, Picts and Vikings) and geology /nature (Yesnaby) and his knowledge was encyclopedic. Whatever I asked, he was not only able to answer in depth, but brought it all to life by pointing out little quirks, markings and anecdotes. We weren't able to do the final item on the itinerary to the Broch of Birsay as the weather closed in with fog so Kinlay took me on an impromptu tour of Kirkwall to compensate. A wonderful day, thank you.

My husband and I have just had the most AMAZING day with Kinlay on the military tour. This tour exceeded our hopes and expectations in every way! Kinlay is knowledgeable, funny and welcoming and despite us being on a mitary history tour, he was able to tell us so much more about the islands history and food and drink! The vehicle itself was extremely comfortable and we could sit back amd relax and enjoy the incredible scenery and Kinlay's excellent informative and interesting commentary. We will definitely be back and cannot recommend Orkney Uncovered highly enough!

We have just returned from a visit to Orkney, we booked a 5 day tour with Kinlay. This was the very best tour we had ever experienced. The organisational abilities of both Kinlay and Kirsty could not be faulted It was wonderful. I had never realised that Orkney was so militarised during the war. Kinlay was a mine of information and took us to some absolutely wonderful sites, seascapes, ancient buildings and settlements, military emplacements. In all of these he told us all about the history of each site. and took us to some lovely eateries. If you ever go to Orkney you must engage with Orkney Uncovered, I promise you will not be disappointed.

I went to Hoy for a tour with Orkney Uncovered. Unfortunately the weather was not ideal but that didn’t distract from a great day. Luckily the tour vehicle is spacious so you can take a lot of wet weather gear. Kinlay was very knowledgeable, I only wish I could remember more of what he told me. The underground oil stores were really interesting- who knew you could hollow out a hill? Dwafie Stane was amazing (just be warned if it’s wet weather you will get muddy knees crawling in!). Beneath the Hill cafe was a welcome respite from the weather for a warm drink and amazing cake by the stove (the owner was so lovely but I’m afraid I can’t remember her name). Rackwick beach had lovely views especially with the mist travelling down the hill. All in all a well planned fun trip even if I did get wet.
