The only boat still going out around Noss to see the abundant active birds, seals and search for Orca's Phil took us out for an education and fun two hour trip. After giving us the initial safety talk about duplication of engines, dingy and personal safety equipment and communications, he advised that his boat was more stable then the others.... More

This was not our first trip out to Noss to see the seabirds, but it was our first trip with Shetland Seabird Tours, and by far the most enjoyable. The boat is stable, powerful, fast and clean... perfectly suited for the job. Photographers can get much closer to the water for that eye-level perspective, and the open stern gives unimpeded... Up close and personal with gannets diving all around the boat. Saw a harbour porpoise, fulmars, great skuas, guillemots and black guillemots, young gannets still unable to fly and kittiwakes. Coming back into harbour, Phil fed seals from the boat, so close that we got thoroughly splashed. Comfortable boat, expert commentary and safe even for a 2 and a half... More

Seriously....this was one of the best days ever and I don't mean just this summer....I mean EVER! I felt safe and thrilled at the sights and sounds and by being sooooo close to the stunning birds, seals, vast water and massive heights of the cliffs. I am still talking about this day and I look through my photos a lot....they... More

Having been thwarted by the weather for our proposed flight into Fair Isle, Phil lifted our spirits by arranging to take us on his fabulous 2-hour cruise round Noss to see the Gannets and Bonxies up-close and personal. We were a mixed bunch of photographers and birders and all found the whole trip comfortable and surprisingly stable despite the chop... More

Phil is the most gracious and relaxed and informed guide. His boat is amazing- you feel you're on the water and it's so comfortable. He was so tuned in and responsive to our interests and questions and we had so much fun. We fed birds and seals with mackerel. We all totally loved the experience. Worth every penny. AND with... Excellent boat tour to see the fantastic attractions in easy reach from Lerwick harbour. Highlights are the 25000 strong gannet colony on the 600 ft sheer cliffs of Noss, plenty other seabirds, and beautiful scenery. Possible bonuses are marine mammal sightings (we saw a pod of porpoises, and there have also been orcas and minke whales spotted this summer), and... More

We booked SST at the last minute, not realizing it was a large inflatable. However, it was a great boat and easy for my (82 year old) mother to navigate. Phil was a wonderful guide - very knowledgeable about the birds. He brought a bucket of fish with us, and after exploring the cliffs in Bressay (about 15 minutes from... More
