This was the best tour of our three week trip. Captain Phil was fun and knowledgeable, and he kitted us out with those new life preservers that are just like straps-not bulky at all.
I could not believe the birds we saw. Even in September, when the puffins were already gone, it was amazing. Phil had fish galore to entice them close to the boat for pictures.
Then, as we were coming along the back side of Noss Island, seals! Right up by the boat! So fun!
I totally recommend this tour.

This is a wonderful trip, not too long, and lots to see. The guide is perfect, very knowledgeable, and clear and very interesting. We did a good tour, but I was quite unprepared for the underwater feeding. It was sensational. The gannets were diving all around us, like missiles into the water. I couldn't get enough of this. It was a great wildlife experience. Can't thank them enough for such a good trip.

Our small-group tour with Seymour Travel went on an afternoon tour around the islands of Bressay and ss with Shetland Seabird Tours. What fun! Good weather, and a knowledgeable skipper/tour conductor, Phil, who knew every kind of bird we saw, the stages of their lives, their relations with the other birds -- and how to get them close to us! (Fish bait.) The boat is not large, but felt the right size for our group. Phil is experienced and competent, and I always felt safe. No one got seasick. Phil was very accommodating as well, quickly creating a way for a tour member to take pictures underwater with his waterproof camera. An exhilarating time for all, I think.

We booked for this tour in June 2022, but the weather was against us all week, booked for Sunday of this week and again it got cancelled thanks to the weather, but Phil got us on the boat for today (05/09/23). Having been visiting Shetland for a number of years now, this was by far the best thing we've ever done (close runners up being the Strawberry Tarts at the Original Cake Fridge, and the magnificent otters in the bay below Tangwick Haa).
The trip was stunning from start to end, I'd bought myself a new camera from the Camera Centre in Commercial Street (much better than giving my hard earned money to Amazon) and my goodness, I put it to good use. The geology is amazing, the birdlife even more, and the seals at the end of the tour have such huge 'feed me' eyes.
I never realised just how big Bressay is, we're staying at the Maryfield House Hotel on Saturday and Sunday night and I foolishly thought I would be able to walk much of the island!
Thank you Phil, absolutely the best trip ever, we loved it.
Can not recommend this tour highly enough, you need to book now!

What a great trip!
Phil is so professional, and managed everything smoothly. His knowledge is wide on all the local nature etc, so that greatly added to the interest, and he provided lots of opportunities to take photos.
This trip was excellent in all respects. Highly recommended.

Fanstatic trip, stunning scenery and brilliant birdwatching. Thoroughly enjoyed our trip. the extras like binoculars and bird identication sheets, as well as Phil's humourous, warts n all commentry were great. It's a small world too as it turned out that Phil and one of our party shareda mutual acquaintance totally unrelated to the Shetland Islands!

Met Phil and his other passengers at the small boat harbour and after a safety briefing were soon heading out towards the Noss cliffs. There was early excitement as Phil spotted a Puffin in the water. The bird was having difficulty lifting itself above the waves into the air but eventually it succeeded and flew off. Arriving at the cliffs, we saw hundreds and hundreds (thousands?) of birds nesting, resting and flying above the cliffs. Guillemots, Gannets, Fulmars and Skuas. When Phil threw some small fish in to water birds, gannets in particular, dived into the water about the boat seeking a feed. We were able to stand and take many photos and videos of the action. This was a most memorable trip, we would recommend it to anyone interested in birdlife. Great value for money.

I tried to go on this trip in 2022 when we visited Shetland but the weather was against us. I was delighted to be able to go this time. Phil is very knowledgable and everyone was delighted when George a harbour seal tried to get on board to eat the fish! The boat is comfortable and quite fast - the weather was great and it was good humoured trip. I had hoped to get some good photos and was pleased with what I managed to do. There were good views and lots of different seabirds. The diving gannets was the highlight of the trip for me - see photo/

Do you have any tours available tomorrow July 1? If yes what time, how long is the tour and what is the cost? In advance, many thanks.

Thank you for your message. We do not have our boat tours running tomorrow as the winds and swell are too rough for a comfortable trip. We do have a minibus tour instead offered with Phil as driver and guide which goes south to Sumburgh head via some scenic routes and sites. Puffins and Shetland ponies will feature on this tour. It’s from 10.00 to 14.00. If you’d like to book we have a few spaces left. Please contact us via phone or email and we can book you in. Thank you Rebecca SST 07767872260

Is it far from the cruise ships dock? 09:45 tour is suitable for a 0800 docking?
Shetland Seabird Tours
Shetland Islands, UK201 contributions
Hi. Thank you for your question, which cruise ship will you be on? The majority of cruise ships dock/tenders arrive literally right next to where our boat leaves from in the small boat harbour, Victoria pier, Lerwick. You should have no problem making the 9.45 at all.

Thank you for your message regarding our tours on 5th July 2018. Unfortunately our 9.45 and 12.45 trips are fully booked. I am not sure what time you leave Shetland? we do still have spaces on the 3.45pm (trips last 2-2.5 hours) but I imagine this will be too late for you? Thank you for your interest. TripAdvisor does not allow us to give our website information out but it is the name of our company, it should be easy to find on any search engine. Thank you, SST
