Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

If you only have one day in the Shetland Islands I would highly recommend this tour. We booked this tour because of the itinerary and it was a less costly than a similar tour being offered by the cruise line. On the stop where we were supposed to see the ponies, they were not out in the field. Our tour guide quickly made alternative arrangements and took our group to another Pony farm. The bird sanctuary where we viewed the puffins was fascinating. Definitely take a camera with a good zoom lens to capture the Puffins.

The entire trip was a pleasure from start to finish. Pick up instructions were clear and good pick up time of 11am. Pleasant journey with well informed guide down to the cliffs and lighthouse where we were able to see many puffins and other species of birds.
This was followed by a lovely lunch at a nearby hotel.
After lunch we made a stop to see some seals on a local beach followed by a visit to see and be introduced to some Shetland Ponies. Arrived back Lerwick esplanade around 315pm.
Fortunately the weather favoured us this day , being quite bright and clear and staying dry.
The only issue I had regarding the trip was that it only appeared to run 3 / 4 times a summer season but fortunately my visit to Lerwick coincided with the July date.

Our group of 22 spent 3 days touring Mainland with Peter Reid in June, 2023. We could not have asked for a better experience or driver/guide. Peter shared his local knowledge at every turn and took us to wonderful places we would not have known about. A highlight was attending a Sunday Tea. A huge thanks to Peter and the company.

The tour was excellent taking in some of the local villages and panoramic views. The guide, Douglas had an extremely pleasant manner and was very knowledgeable and answered all questions in depth.
We would recommend this tour and this company to anyone.

We took this tour from the cruise terminal and I could not have been happier with the trip we took with Hazel.
This is an excellent tour to take if you want to see both the Atlantic puffins and Shetland ponies and is a must for any nature lover.
The scenario is amazing, there is good coverage of the island with accompanying narration from the tour guide.
It also included lunch at the Sumburgh hotel which features in the Shetland tv series and there are other references to the series throughout the day.
This was a very enjoyable trip and I would highly recommend.

The trip in early July was a great way to see the southern part of the island and see the wildlife. Pickup point and directions were easy to find from the cruise port dropoff. Our guide was knowledgeable and passionate about his island. Seeing the southernmost part of the island with all the birds and the surprise lunch were a bighlight for us! Our best piece of advice - dress for the weather and enjoy the experience!

This was our last stop in the British Isles before cruising over to Norway. It was a rainy day but it was doable. We got to see the Shetland ponies and drive around the country side to hear about tbe Shetland islands. I'm perplexed why someone would want to live here since it seems so rainy and building materials are hard to come by. Glad we went.

Great tour. Our guide was wonderful and full of information. Saw seals, old Viking settlements, where peat had been dug up from the ground and of course the famous ponies. Stopped for tea at a sturdy looking hotel near more Viking ruins. Even our bus driver was cool. It was easy to get picked up and dropped off right near our ship. And finally, the whole tour was cheaper than pretty much the same shore excursion offered by the ship. Give these folks a try. They do a great job.

It’s all about the PUFFINS! We truly enjoyed our day on the Puffins and Ponies tour. The communication through the company was great. The pick up location was just steps away from the cruise ship tender dock, and the tour operated smoothly. Dress warmly for the walk up to the top of the promontory when there are an abundance of puffins, often just a few feet away, perched at the top of the cliffs. We got tons of wonderful pictures. Plus there were a variety of other bird species there. A lunch stop was included, which was a nice surprise. The pony stop was just a token stop along the road to see about 6 ponies. The scenery was breath-taking and we enjoyed our day.

This was a great tour! I do use a wheelchair to cover long distances, but I am able to get on & off the bus. So if you are in similar circumstances, or use a walker, you will do fine on this excursion. The puffins were very shy the day we went & the weather wasn't cooperative until we headed back to Lerwick. Such is the luck of the draw. I did enjoy the visit & actually wouldn't mind going back to the Shetlands, because there really is a lot do to do & see there!

Thanks very much for the lovely review! Glad you enjoyed the tour, despite the weather & shy puffins!

Hi. I’ll be there on a Celebrity Cruise on May 25, 2022. Are you available for a day tour?
Written 26 March 2022
How far from the ship is the pick up point? We have somebody that has walking issues. Thank you in advance. We will surely like to book one of your coach tours.

Hi, we pick you up about 100 metres from where the tenders come ashore in the centre of Lerwick. Some ships dock further out of town, but on those days there is a free shuttle bus to take you into town and our pick up point is right next to where the bus will drop you off. Hope this helps!

Do you have any scenic bus tours on the 21 June. My wife and I are in Lerwick that day on a Holland America cruise and would like to see what’s available. If you still have space, what is the cost?
Thanks

Hi John,
Yes we have 5 bus tours planned for 21 June. I would recommend the Puffins & Ponies tour (£45pp for 4 hours) or one of our Central Shetland tours (£25pp for 2 hours or £35pp for 3 hours) to see the best scenery.
You can find the tours and departure times on the booking page of our website.
Many thanks,
Jamie

Hi, We are a party of two arriving on Oct 1, @ 9am on the NCL Jade. The ship departs @5pm. Do you have a tour that we can join? Thank you. Cecilia
Written 24 June 2018
Yes, we've got two tours available that day. Our traditional tour and our central tour which both depart at 11:00. You can find more information, and can book online, by visiting our webpage.

Did you book a private tour with them? I know they also have a larger bus that covers the same attractions. Very excited about seeing the Shetlands this summer. Hopefully lots of those cute ponies
Written 18 May 2018
Hello, I see you've not had a response to your question. We do private tours as well as our coach tours. Our private tours are bespoke and can be made up to suit what you want to see on the day. Alternatively you can join one of our coach tours for a more cost effective way of seeing some of Shetland. All our coach tours offer the chance to meet some of our native Shetland ponies. Hope you enjoy your visit to Shetland!
