Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Great place to cycle, would recommend. There was also a mobile cafe worth visiting. We enjoyed the cycle ride.

We parked by the station theatre, and walked the path up to the bridge which joins the island to the mainland. The car park is free but has limited spaces.
The first part of the walk is through trees so provides a lot of shade on sunnier days. The second part of more open, with shady patches.
Lovely views across to Portsmouth. There is a snack van towards the end of the path.
No toilet facilities along the walk.

Nice path bordered by hedgerows with views across the harbour to Portsmouth.Small poorly signposted car parks at Northern end and mid way, both free but spaces only for c.15 cars each. Good signage all along explaining the history of the Billy line and local wildlife and coastal features.
West end is nothing to write home about but the return walk from the North car park to station theatre, west end is about 11,000 steps.
Surface is a bit bumpy, so shoes with a good sole recommended.
Despite some of previous reviews we found all cyclists to be friendly and thanked us for moving to the side. Majority of path is wide enough anyway for a couple to walk side by side and for a cyclist to pass. Respect everyone and we will all be happier! 🚶‍♀️🚶🏻‍♂️🚴‍♀️🚴‍♂️

Great place for a walk. Good informative notice boards. Only downside is having bikes coming along at speed, which we didn’t always hear them approaching. Joggers, walkers, dog walkers and cyclists need to give each other a little space so EVERYONE get to enjoy this lovely trail.

Very popular with families, children and dog walkers. Locals use for dog walking and family outings, so cyclists need to be considerate and slow down. Have had some scary incidents with cyclists going too fast, not looking out for children or dogs and hogging the whole path.

Lovely trail but my family has recently been scared by a minority of dog dog walkers with up to six dogs off lead. Some dogs completely out of control, chasing wildlife and hassling our kids.

We only managed half of this trail as we did too much along the west coast first so ran out of time. Well marked, gravel trail for walkers, horses and cyclists. Not sure how good it would be for a buggy. Nice views over to Portsmouth.

A lovely walk to take with the dogs. You can stop halfway and go off the path to get to the water. The entire walk is around 5km each way but we did 2km which was far enough. Not much to see on the path, but once you get to the water, it’s a quiet tranquil spot. We managed to find some wildlife, crabs in the rocks and a lot of sea birds flying around. Nice if you enjoy peace and quiet.

This is a beautiful walk/cycle along a beautiful shoreline. Windsurfers and paddle boards. There is plenty to do and see for all the family.
