About
Voted CAMRA Pub of the Year 2020 for Gateshead. Located on the south side of the River Tyne in Gateshead at the end of the Tyne and High-Level Bridges, Station East is a quirky space incorporating beautiful natural stonework that had previously been hidden for many years, and brings into use railway arches at the back of the pub. Stonework and steel give a natural, unpretentious industrial feel creating an atmospheric setting and drinks space, with a wide selection of real ales and craft beers to be enjoyed. There are regular events throughout the week including the pub quiz, live music and comedy nights.

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Well this is the perfect micropub. Everyone was so friendly and a great range of reasonably priced beers.
Absolutely the best place in Newcastle/Gateshead that I went to over few days.
A few minute walk from Gateshead metro and a couple of other pubs nearby worth checking out too

Great pub - fantastic atmosphere, friendly staff, good choice of beer, brilliant use of space. They also do a good pub quiz and have loads of events - you can check their Facebook page to see what's on. Definitely my favourite pub in Gateshead.

Went there for pub quiz. First thing that greets you is smell of stale urine. It's verging on over powering. Does not make you want to stay. The quiz was quite good but was over long. Dragged out too long. Over 3 hours. 2 would be better. Good selection of beers and nice atmosphere. Need to fix whatever is causing that smell ASAP though. Won't go back (and nor will any of our quiz team) until it's sorted.

Called for drinks and had a great time. We were made welcome on entry and enjoyed the interior of the rooms. Ask to look at them. The beer was spot on and I could have stayed for longer if we could. The bar lady was great. Top marks.

Been meaning to try this pub for years... but never got round to it.. still it has been renovated but kept to a old fashioned style. Room through the back is bit chilly and spooky but that's what I like..friendly welcome and nice choice of wines and beers. will definitely be back.

The manager is a sexy beast and I want to have his babies. Could do some better beer though. Would a bang average amber ale really be such a bad thing?

Last time I took notice of this place it was rough as a badgers backside, with half the cast of the muppet show standing outside.
That was many moons ago.
Bar now totally transformed, looks fantastic great selection of real ales and a decent lager Budvar which you can buy at a decent price without signing over your deeds or promising your first born sons soul to the brewery like many of the bars in the toon.
Music playing in the background is cool and seems plenty going on. Will certainly be back.

Lots of good beers here. It is possible to go through the main bar into a railway arch in its original condition, a must for railway buffs like me.
Not too busy when we went but expect it to get fuller at nights and weekend. Great place.

I stumbled across this superb place after a long day walking in the area. It is located within the southern approach structure of Robert Stephenson's 1849 High Level Bridge.
This iconic pub of character serves a good range of real ales and ciders and the landlord was both helpful and informative as I was trying to find my way down to the swing bridge. Thank you fo the refreshment and advice.

Had a pint with the lovely lass behind the bar, lots of atmosphere and a ray of sunshine in Gateshead. Good drink, nice company, what more is needed?
