Took my two Great Granddaughters to see Santa. They loved traveling on the train to see the North Pole to see Santa. They had Elves an Ice Queen and Snowman which they loved they all came and spoke to the children which was lovely. These people are all volunteers and must be commended for a job well done. Drinks and... More

A lovely family adventure to the North Pole. From Santa to the elves, all were entertaining and enthusiastic. Parents, grandparents and children all had a lovely time. Well organised including parking. Can't wait to book for next year.

A short train ride to santas grotto where refreshments of tea/coffee & mince pies, juice & crisps for the children are all part of the deal. The children see santa they get a little gift which isn't one of the cheap... More

Would recommend a visit to the Polar Express at Tanfield Railway. We took grandparents and children aged 6 and 9. It has a great charm to it, is really well organised and we all thought it was great value for money. The free refreshments (sherry and mince pies for adults and crisps and juice for kids) was a nice touch.... More

We read the reviews carefully and decided the event got a bit overwhelmed two years ago, but last year was back on track (pardon the pun). We booked an earlier train to prevent there been too many people causing delays. Worked a treat. We arrived early (about 20 min) so had a hot chocolate and cake. By then the train... More

This is a wonderful Steam Railway hidden away in gorgeous countryside. The staff are all very friendly and helpful. A ticket lasts all say and you can hop on and off as many times as you like and walk through wonderful (hidden) countryside. A very cheap and enjoyable day! Well recommended.

I declare an interest - we love trains - but this was a repeat visit and it was just as good the 2nd time. You can travel on the train as much as you like for your admission, but there is also the train shed to look round and even better for train-addicts you can wander around the yards with... More
