My new bride had this on her “bucket list” of places to see and we were not disappointed. The installation is beautiful and breathtaking in size.
Firstly it is FREE to visit and there is ample FREE parking
Despite us thinking there was going to be quite a hike involved, it turns out the car park is basically at the same level, with easy slope walkways to the sculpture. Making it easily accessible to all including wheelchair users.

Definitely a must. You cannot go to the North East and not stop and see the Angel of the North!
There is a really informative information sign telling you about it and it's just not the same unless you stop and see it up close so don't just drive by, I'd recommend stopping for a few minutes, it's not very far off the main road.
Small free car park - sometimes a mobile coffee van but no fixed refreshments or amenities.

Staying nearby so made the effort to see it up close rather than on the motorway. It's impressive for sure, just a shame the usual carving and graffiti is around the base

It's just stunning. The word "awesome" is so overused but it fits this sculpture beautifully. I heartily recommend it as a "must-see" tourist attraction.

Don't get me wrong, she's an amazing piece of art but the site had rubbish and beer/wine bottles everywhere. She seems to be just dumped at the side of the motorway, if only she was placed up a small hill.

You cannot visit this area without stopping off to take a look. It is quite random with nothing else around other than a free car park which is great and a coffee van.

A must see when in Newcastle. I thought it would be underwhelming but actually thought it was quite impressive. Easy to get to on the bus.

This statue was something I had always wanted to see close up having passed it several times on the motorway.
I was so pleased I did.
Free parking close by which was great.
Don't pass it, take a closer look.

Took the bus from Newcastle City Centre, so easy to get to. Surprised at how close it was to the roads, had imagined it a bit further out for some reason. Very impressive sculpture, very iconic. Shame people think it’s funny to put LOL stickers on there..!

How do I get there from central Newcastle by public transport?

Hi, the Angel is on the A167 Durham Road just before it joins the A1.
There are loads of buses that use this road as a southern route out of the Newcastle/Gateshead conurbation. I don't use that many buses so can't recommend anything other than the X21/21/22 services which all go to Durham.
It's only 5 miles from the station to the Angel, so a taxi may work out as cheaper if there were a few of you to share?
Hope you enjoy your visit.

Is the Angel male or female

The sculpture is designed to capture our imaginations so it's not identifiable as male or female, you see the form as you want to see it whether that's male or female.
Either way the angel is stunning and you will enjoy a visit :o))

How do you get there I'm going to be staying in Gateshead at a hotel?
How much does it cost?

Take a bus from Gateshead interchange, or a taxi (there's no flagging down a taxi, it's all private hire). Monument itself is free
