My family and I had the absolute pleasure of renting a boat for the week from Maurice at Fowey River Boat Hire during our stay at Pont Pill in May half term 2023. From the moment we made our booking, the service was exceptional. Maurice personally delivered the boat to our location, where he securely moored it and provided a comprehensive orientation.
He explained the rules of the river, demonstrated how to operate the boat, and shared essential advice on understanding the tides and ideal places to moor. His professional yet friendly approach instantly put us at ease and filled us with confidence for our boating adventure.
Our children, aged 6 and 9, were absolutely thrilled. This experience provided a sense of adventure that they fully embraced. They fondly recall "our boat" and the day we got fish and chips from Polruan. The memory of that day is particularly etched in our minds. In an attempt to avoid attracting seagulls, I quickly instructed to dump the spilled chips over the side of the boat. However, this was amusingly misinterpreted, resulting in the chips being thrown into the air. It felt like every seagull in Fowey descended upon us. Thanks to the boat's impressive power, we were able to make a swift and exciting getaway. This unexpected event added an extra layer of adventure to our trip and has since been a story told with much laughter.
Our holiday was transformed by this unique experience. The convenience of reaching Fowey in just 10 minutes by boat, rather than an hour by car, was remarkable. However, the real value was the new perspective it offered. We saw aspects of nature that we might have missed and had some truly unforgettable experiences.
I wholeheartedly recommend Fowey River Boat Hire to any family planning a visit to the area. Not only did this adventure create unforgettable memories, but it also offered an immersive way to appreciate the natural beauty of Fowey and Pont Pill. I hired three boats for a week for a family gathering. The price was very reasonable and the quality of the boats far exceeded my expectations. Maurice met us and gave us all the information we needed to keep us safe. We had a great week which was massively enhanced by having access to the river.

We hired a boat from Maurice, who was really helpful in showing us what to do, where to go and all about the tide times. Thoroughly enjoyed it and would 100% recommend to anyone looking to explore the area from the water. Felt safe throughout and had some amazing views.

Our stay near Fowey was greatly enhanced by having a boat for the week. Maurice provides a brilliant service, delivery and super training - we couldn’t have asked for more and loved using the boat to get around from place to place as well just for cruising and fishing. Thanks to Maurice a great holiday was even better!

We booked a half day boat boat hire, and we loved it - it was just enough time to do a couple of laps of the area. Before the trip, Maurice gave us all the details we needed and it all went very smoothly. So much wildlife and plenty of sights to see. Would definitely recommend it as a fun day out.

Absolutely excellent service from Maurice. We were delayed on arrival. The boat was already on the pontoon waiting & messaged Maurice to say we'd arrived & he was there within minutes for his instruction talk. £250 for the week v Fowey parking no contest. If your in Fowey hire a boat, you won't be disappointed.

We had such a wonderful trip up river on Maurice's boat Kestrel to Lostwithiel followed by a picnic of fish and chips by the river. Glorious evening and what an adventure. Maurice was a superb host and we hired a boat from him for three weeks. We are certainly going to hire again from him when we next return and would highly recommend him and his boats. Lovely coffee chats with himself and Marie !

Maurice arrived with the boat a couple of minutes at the property just after we did, his instructions were very clear and gave a few handy tips. He was very good at explaining the safety aspects and you can tell he has years of experience. He also recommended the Lugger in Fowey for food and that was excellent too. The boat was sturdy and stable perfect for popping down to Fowey for shops and as we did a takeaway run. We had the boat on a week's hire and I was not expecting to use it everyday but was so much fun we did go out everyday and twice a day when the tide permitted.

The best boat hire in Fowey! We hired a boat from Maurice and he could not have been more helpful. Clear instructions and a lovely tidy boat, which we very much enjoyed taking out on the river.
Nothing was too much trouble. The weather was a bit hit and miss while we were there, but Maurice was very flexible with the hire, allowing us to choose which days we could have the boat, depending on the weather. Maurice was very knowledgeable and will answer any questions you may have.
We will certainly be hiring from Maurice again in the future next time we visit beautiful Fowey.

Wonderful boat and amazing service from Maurice, I can’t praise him enough for the flexibility and understanding he showed us when the weather was typically British and changeable. He was very patient teaching both of us how to use the boat and where we could take it etc
Had a fantastic day exploring and eating on the river, very romantic picnic. Five stars and some for Maurice and his boats!

Morning, No, there are more fees to pay. You can moor up at the public pontoons at Polruan and Fowey. The price includes all fuel and buoyancy aids.
