Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We are a family of four and were quite intrigued with the external look of “Mad Fowey”. We went in and told £22 for a family of four but would take about 50 minutes to get around but a lot to see. Sounded reasonable but overall it was a small down stairs area and two rooms upstairs with a few (poor) exhibits….some didn’t even work
Properly…..it needs a lot of work to be worth a visit.

Sorry you were disappointed. People seem to engage at very different levels. Some are round in 20 minutes other stay over an hour. Even some of the brief visitors still feel uplifted by the lack of laptops and digital and the overall humerous experience they have not seen before.

Fowey’s Mad museum is a breath of fresh air in the centre of town.
The exhibits are fascinating fun and interactive and will appeal to adults and children alike. We found it interesting and amusing in equal measure and is a great asset to the town. The staff were helpful and engaging,
Pay it a visit. You will not regret it.

Thank you for pointing out it's not just for children.

The exhibits themselves are fab! So intriguing and fun, my 12 year old nephew said it was “sick!” Which means it is good.
However a lot smaller than it looks from outside and I would say they are over charging. We were in there for about 30-40 minutes if that.
The 6 year old nephew said “is that it all?” He definitely wanted to see more.

I know a lot of places are more expensive, but it didn’t fill much time and left the kids wanting more. So I hope they can expand and open more exhibits, but maybe not worth the entrance fee!

Limited space is the price we pay for being in the very middle of Fowey. We are still looking to cram more quirky stuff in over the winter months, perhaps on the ceiling! Any ideas very welcome.

We had a great time. Our 18 month old child was fascinated, the four year old loved all the buttons and complexity. We enjoyed the randomness of it and it was all good fun. 45 minutes well spent.

Quirky and fun. We took shelter there during a classic bit of Cornwall weather and whiled away a fun 45 minutes. Some of the exhibits are genuinely brilliant and made me wonder if I shouldn't go and hide away in the workshop for a week...
It does feel a bit like a personal hobby or collection, but I think it's great that they can make it work and show it off!
Nice friendly staff and an interesting selection of toys and mechanical curios as well. Come with an open mind and a full bladder (make sure you visit the first toilet ...)

Mikef....glad you enjoyed our museum and quirky toilets. My son and nephew run a much bigger MAD in Stratford upon Avon but I thought during lockdown it would be good to get another lot of Kinetic Art together to inspire young and old in the South West area after being banged up for months. You 'should' hide away in your workshop and make something......it's hugely interesting and good for the soul. We are looking for ideas for the ceiling??

We visited after arriving in Fowey on cloudy day and was very pleasantly surprised by the interactivity and thought that had gone into the exhibits. You can let your imagination run wild as the cogs turn on the exhibits. A fascinating and unique experience that we really enjoyed. If you find yourself in Fowey it's definitely worth trying something different

Stumbled across this gem of a place at the weekend. My 6 year old loved it and could have spent much longer looking at all the interactive exhibits and chatting to the lovely staff member. I would definitely recommend a visit.

A really fun and engaging way to spend time in Fowey. The ingenious exhibits will delight and enthral people of all ages. The displays reminded me of Heath Robinson drawings. Art, science, engineering and theatre all in one. Great value too
