Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I always loved going to aquariums but this one was most shocking. £4.50 per adult entry fee and it’s the smallest aquarium going. The only member of staff I saw was on her phone scrolling through Instagram as serving us and I don’t blame her as the aquarium was that dull. The tanks looked disgustingly dirty, I’ll give to them, a few interesting animals but when at the touch tank we saw 2 dead and almost shrivelled up starfish at the back of the tank trying to escape. The octopus looks like it went through the deep depression. No COVID restrictions were in place as they tried to cram as many people as they could for money. £4.50 is cheap for an aquarium but I’d rather pay more for better looked after fish.

Absolute rubbish!!! This place is no bigger than a small living room on the sims game. There is about 10 fish and crabs and the ones that there is look depressed and are like please get me out of here. In the pool where you can touch the hermit crabs and starfish there is numerous dead ones floating about. I rescued a hermit crab myself from a starfish eating it the poor thing. Honestly don't waste your £4.50pp get a pint across the road at the pub and u will see more fish just by looking over the wall into the sea itself.

When coming here I was expecting a small aquarium with local fish like others such as ilfracombe aquarium. What we got was a overcrowded room surrounded by grubby fish tanks filled with the fish I expected but with next to no info about the fish. The tanks were set out like ones in a pet shop and not of ones to mimic the environment of the fish. No staff on hand to deal with the bad treatment of the poor creatures being played with by kids except one bloke who sat permanently on his phone. The conger eel was huge but simply far to big for the 2 ft of water he lives in. This place showed no welfare concerns towards its creatures and is a bad example of how a local aquarium can be run! Sorry but avoid!

Bijou aquarium at a small price for entry - but not only great fun, but quite fascinating at the same time.
This is not the mega walkaround aquarium found in big seaside ciities, but a local look at fish, and sea creatures that you could see locally in Fowey.
We were very impressed with the Conger Eel, and the hard to spot Turbot, Good Fun.

Tucked away near the harbour is Foley Aquarium.

It looks small at first but there’s so much on display. I’ve never seen spider crabs or lobsters up close before and found them fascinating.

All the creatures on display were caught locally in the waters just outside the door - and it’s amazing to discover what are in our local seas.

The touch pool was great and the chap in charge was superb - and even showed us how to correctly pick up a crab!

It’s around £5 for adult and £3 for kids and was great value for money as we easily spent a good hour there.

Highly recommended

I still have the image of a poor crab in a small dirty tank doing the tipical repetitive movements of animali trapped in a too small space...I thought that nowadays, with more awareness, places like this would not exist any more.
Small, dark, dirty, smelly, floor full of water( apparently a leak, like in previous review).
I would not like to be one of those poor sea creature, trapped in there...so sad

I took my granddaughter on a dull day and I can honestly say she loved it. This is a chance to see a really old building and have an up close and personal experience with the sea life. Ginormous conger eel, lobsters, ray, and the lovely man that explained about the water coming in from the harbour, what a treat.

We pass this place every year without going in, but this year it was raining so we thought we’d give it a look… so glad we did. Lots to see, adults and children alike will enjoy this place. Well worth the entrance fee.

This very unassuming little aquarium is a delight. It's small but full of many varieties of fish. It's well-priced and the staff were enthusiastic and friendly. The fish are only kept in the aquarium for a short time before being returned to the sea. Really enjoyed our visit here - will come back.

This little aquarium is fascinating. It’s got lots of local creatures in it, and we spent a good hour there looking at all the crabs, lobsters, and fish. There is also a conga eel which was awesome to behold. I think people sometimes confuse this kind of aquarium with the larger commercialised ones you get in big towns and cities. Well I much prefer this type of aquarium. It’s well worth a visit to see what is living around our local shoreline. Fascinating.
