Gem of a find for a few hours of fun
What a gem of a find! Lovely farm cafe with 2 nice play areas, go-karts, ride on tractors. bouncing pillows, farm animals & a trail. Food was nice in the cafe, prices were a little on the steep side so was the entry fee for what activities/things to do there are. you could only spend a few hours here, it’s not an all day place. However we did have a lovely time & enjoyed ourselves, ice cream was lovely & plenty of favours. Unfortunately no cows this time & the milk machine wasn’t working due to their being no cows.

Pleasant few hours play with grandchildren
Visited recently with our grandchildren age 6 and 3 and stayed around 4 hours. The kids enjoyed the fairy trail and play areas especially the bouncing pillows and go karts. A few benches placed around the inside of the bouncing pillows would be appreciated for parents to sit and watch the kids and to change their shoes etc . We ate lunch while there which seemed a bit expensive for what it was . The children also had a 1 scoop ice ream cone which was £3 each. It has improved a lot since the last time we visited, would return as long as the price doesn’t go up.

    Absolutely fantastic afternoon
We booked a buffet to celebrate my sister’s 60th birthday. My sister has brain damage and is a wheelchair user. I cannot thank Churchfields enough, Tracie was fantastic and made sure she knew exactly what our requirements were. The food was absolutely incredible and the staff were attentive, kind and went out of their way to help us and were very professional. We have had such a lovely and relaxed afternoon, it’s been better than I could have hoped for. Thank you Churchfields

    Heaven on earth
Worth the queue. We go a lot, and it just gets better and better every visit !! The ice cream is cooled to perfection, the wide range of flavours making anyone salivate like a dog. There's a beautiful garden to sit in, as well as an activity shed for children, and a climbing frame too. If you're ever near, take a pit stop - it's worth the wait !!

Simply the best experience for miles around
Visited Churchfields for their Winter Fayre in November. I’d been down a couple of weeks previously for their Pumpkin Festival and been really impressed with the sheer variety of different things for the children (in my case grandchildren and great grandchild) to do culminating in finding just the right pumpkin to take home. So the Winter Fayre beckoned for a second trip and I wasn’t disappointed. There must have been over 50 stalls spread out all under cover throughout the farm with crafters and food producers from near and far selling their wares with many wonderful ideas for Christmas gifts. Another brilliant production from Churchfields finished off with the best sausage sandwich for miles around and a brew that didn’t skimp on the teabags! So thank you Churchfields for another wonderful day and a special mention to all your staff who are always so exceptionally friendly and helpful - even when dressed up as pumpkins! We will be back for Christmas and Santa!

    Christmas Experience
Sunday 08.12.24. Family trip for the Christmas Experience.. What a great day, the staff were so friendly and helpful. When father Christmas read out grand kids name, made their day. Food in the cafe was excellent. The farm part was closed due to the very high wind, we fully understood. Thank you for a great start to Christmas.

We went over to Churchfields for the Maize Maze with two young children and grandparents. Excellent social distancing, good price, the activity lasted a good long time, and we had really nice ice cream after we'd finished.

The Maize Maze is separate from the Fairy Trial and the main cafe area, so it's easy to keep your distance from people if you are concerned about social distancing.

Nice staff too. Only disappointment was the lack of sunflowers but we went later in the day so I imagine these had all been picked. That said, the children didn't mind in the least.

My daughter was due to celebrate her birthday on 6th July, we weren’t sure what to do this year due to the current climate. A friend told me about the lovely afternoon teas that could be ordered for collection. I rang and spoke with Richard, he was so professional and helpful, he assured me that if I placed the order it would be honoured even if the premises was allowed to open by this date. I did this and got a confirmation email straight back giving detailed instructions on how to safely collect the food. My son went to collect at the chosen time, everything was ready, he said it was very straightforward. The selection of food was great, assorted sandwiches and cakes, a huge scone with jam, cream and butter. A very juicy strawberry, a Churchfields wafer, a tea bag, all nicely packaged. Thank you.

Wasn’t impressed. Overstaffed with about 6 crammed behind the counter. Long hair not tied back or netted. Long hair in the ice cream while serving and didn’t really rate the ice cream. Really disappointed. Went to pay with cash and they looked at me like I was an alien and had to rifle through draws and cupboards to find different popper pockets with money in for change. Wanted me to pay by card which I didn’t have. Won’t be going back. And toilets are filthy. No one has cleaned them properly in a very long time. Dirt, dust, cobwebs build up around toilets and sink. Those that had a mask on weren’t wearing properly so what’s the point if not covering nose

Churchfields has a nice outside area to enjoy your coffee. There is a small but little playground for the kids, which is good.

However the running of the place is totally disorganised. It takes an forever to get a coffee due to the size of the queues. There are other members of staff standing around doing nothing working on waffle shack outside. They have a silly thought out one way system which makes people join the queue just so they can use the toilet in the rear yard area.

I have noticed the price of the coffee seems to have also increased to 3 quid for a thrown together coffee.

Overall it seems that churchfields are struggling at running a business efficiently whilst putting covid measures in place.

A break from a 'cycle journey and a chance for some coffee. Indifferent service, weak drink and a distinctly non-customer friendly procedure to buy anything. One person allowed into the enclosed area....this should be reviewed to diminish some queuing.
Definitely felt like I was the intrusion, rather than the paying visitor.
Never again.

We visited yesterday, when we had waited 20 minutes for our order to be taken, (after 20 minutes waiting outside) I should have gone with my gut and left at this point. It took another 50 minutes for our coffee and ice cream to arrive. You haven't just read that wrong 50 minutes for coffee!! The server was apologetic, however it is the fault of the management they need to have more staff.
It appears the kitchen staff were running at a better pace because people that had walked in 30 minutes after us were being served hot food. I couldn't see if they had been served drinks as their table was behind us.
Looking around I could see others were frustrated with the service. Although the ice cream is good and the hot food looked nice we will not be visiting again. I would give 5 stars for ice cream, zero for service.
I know that all restaurants and cafes have new measures to be put in place but this was ridiculous.

Had a lovely wander around the Maze, and the sunflower field, where we got to pick some flowers to take home.

However we then ordered two burgers and chips at the outdoor “cowshed”. Our first issue was that card machine appeared to be broken, if not for another customer warning us that she’s just been charged twice we would have paid again for our food. Even with this warning the server asked us to pay again, but we said we didn’t want to be charged twice. Eventually a manager came over, but this confusion took a while to sort out.
Despite there only being five orders ahead of us we had to wait 55minutes before our food was ready. We hadn’t been warned there was a wait at all. The orders ahead of us weren’t particularly large, and from what we could see the issue appeared to be that they were being made literally an order at a time before a new order was started, despite orders ahead containing pretty much the same food items. The person behind us waited the same length of time just for loaded fries. Badly organised, and it really put a downer on our visit, definitely wouldn’t eat there again for anything other than their ice cream. Our BBQ pulled pork burger also didn’t contain any bbq sauce, which was a shame, but by that point we were so hungry we just ate it!

I booked a table in the Resturant online to have a meal before doing the Fairy scary trail at 6.20pm for 5pm ( optional times continued into the evening). We arrived and after a brief wait while our table was prepared we were sat down given instructions on how orders were taken etc with menus on the table. We had planned to have an early tea with our 4 year old granddaughter but when the young lady came back to the table to take our order and we started to tell her what we wanted, she very brusquely told us they stopped serving food at 5pm! As you can image we were a bit shocked having booked a table and there was no reference anywhere on the website that said they stopped serving at 5pm, during winter hours the Resturant closes at 5.30pm ! When pressed she said we could have a choice of three burgers, take it or leave it. We left more to do with the attitude of the waitress who was plain rude and ate somewhere else. If it was my business I would certain train my staff to have a better attitude to customers. When we came back at 6.20 pm to do the fairy trail we walked through the Resturant to get to the start and there where still people seated having food.......what is going on, very disappointing, certainly won’t eat here again.

Met 3 friends here for breakfast. All chose the vegetarian cooked breakfast with quorn sausages. Very disappointed. Only 3 meals arrived, food was not hot, sausages were potato with vegetables in, not quorn. Neither sausages nor hash browns were crispy and were very pale. One meal had much smaller portion of beans and mushrooms. Staff did offer to cook another plate but having seen the food did not want any more.
We were offered a discount voucher for our next visit which eventually staff to reduce the bill.
Setting and ambience good, but will not be returning

We used to love coming here, but won't visit again except perhaps for a tub of ice-cream (which is still amazing). It's now a big commercial enterprise. The food in the cafe is limited to overpriced burgers and sandwiches whereas it used to serve lovely homemade quiche, pies, salads etc. The specials menu offered no additional choices. Not worth visiting for lunch anymore, plus long queues and waits for food.
