About
Treehouse, trains and treasure, whatever the weather! The Perrygrove Adventure Railway is the perfect family day out. You can ride the steam train as much as you like, stopping off at various stations along the line. Outdoor adventure can be had on the elevated treehouses, dens can be built in the woodland and children can play undercover at Foxy Hollow and crawl through a semi submersed tunnel maze. Children can enjoy indoor play in our newly refurbished Twilight Village. We are a dog friendly site and have a beautiful woodland walk through the site. Our cafe serves freshly prepared hot and cold food, drinks, cake and local ice cream from Chase Farm. No charge for extra rides and plenty to do, in all weather. Perrygrove is a great venue to host a wedding – visit www.perrygrove-wedding.co.uk for more details. BRAND NEW PLAY EUIPMENT FOR 2022 – play on our battery operated tractors at Perrygrove station.

    Toddlers will love it
We loved the steam train rides around the site. The indoor play area, which is built like a village so lots of houses and has an upstairs is great. The cafe is very basic, I would probably take food with me next time. Definately a great day out with a toddler.

    Fascinating place to visit
The staff were so friendly and helpful. Really chatty and made all of us feel very welcome. Had an amazing time today with our little boy. We first heard about Perrygrove two years ago, but never got around to going. We remembered about it today and decided to go. It was a great experience! The trains were superb, and running one after another. No waiting around. Even though it was slightly raining, there's still plenty to do. From indoor secret villages, to enclosed railway carriages, it's truly an all year round place. Perrygrove is immaculately kept. The trains all look brand new, the cafe is spotless, and even the outdoor areas are all looked after. Seriously impressed today, and will certainly be going back. I've already recommended it to friends.

    We will return again soon.
An excellent visit to Perrygrove Railway over the bank holiday. Lots of steam engines, visiting engines and traction engines to see and ride in. Hard working staff mostly volunteers make a very enjoyable day. Set in lovely countryside with walks through the woods and bluebells. Lots for families with children to do too. Excellent day.

    Brilliant
Absolutely amazing experience. My Uncle and Nan took myself and my 3 children (4, 9 & 12) we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Really friendly staff, had as many rides on the train as we wanted, lovely park at the other end that my children loved, especially the tunnels. Looking forward to going again in the summer holidays. Highly recommed

    Great family day out
A brilliant place for the young un's. Went here with my 3and a half year old granddaughter who had a busy day. Loved the train rides, loved the play area, Foxy Hollow", the treetop adventure, Twilight Village.. All staff were friendly . The site is quite compact, so Grandad didn't have to walk too far and enjoyed the train rides on the miniature steam train. We enjoyed a picnic in one of the many tables and benches located around the site. After an exhausting day, for her, climbing ,swinging, sliding, crawling through tunnels and walking among the treetops we rounded it off with an ice cream. All in all great value and lots of fun

    A lovely visit
We visited this week during the summer holidays and my 3 year old daughter absolutely loved it! Beautiful train ride, and she loved the play facilities. Loved that it’s dog friendly! We didn’t visit the cafe, but walked through and it was spotless. Would definitely come again.

    Magical experience at Perrygrove
Went on the Santa train this eve. As always, a great experience. 2 kids wildly excited and the experience completely lived up to expectations. A professional and polished service, beautiful steam engines and great North Pole characters. And the best hot chocolate you ever tasted. A gem of a trip.

Good for a couple of hours
A good little place. Visited on a Sunday morning. Opens at 10am but it was about 10:15 by the time the staff actually opened. It’s a good place to spend about 2 hours. It’s not a whole day experience. Staff friendly. Some areas need a refresh

Very disappointing. Party of 5 adults and 2 children aged 7&9 at cost of £66. 30 min train journey was in fact 15 mins. 4 station stops… stopped once briefly otherwise beginning and end. Den building and large play area at Foxy Hole not accessible. According to staff ( not their fault) area is boggy and some people have fallen! So either make this clear when you pay and reduce prices or add a disclaimer that you enter at own risk. Treasure hunt also not available. Children did enjoy the twilight house and the adventure playground but had exhausted everything after an hour. Might be great for toddlers but not for over 5’s. Definitely wouldn’t recommend or revisit!

We have now been every Christmas for 4 years and it's gets better every year.

When you arrive, Kizzi the Christmas Fairy is the best welcome you can imagine. She pays special attention to every child and doesn't rush anything. Also it's great to see that Kizzi has tattoos and piercings, our kids loved it.

The lanterns were fantastic as not all are Christmas related. It's like a big journey to the north pole.

When we entered "North Pole Station" we were greeted by amazing staff (Phil) with big, full, warm hot chocolates (great quality too!)
Yippy the naughty elf is a great surprise and the best snowball catcher in the whole world!
Solina the Head Elf is great and noted down everything requested from every family member... Nice to see she has a northern accent too!
Santa was fantastic and so gentle. Dressed fantastic and wonderfully modern.

We can't wait to still be going in years to come even when our children don't want to!

Took one of the twilight train rides with my 4 year old grand daughter. We were a party of 6, including mum, dad and 3 grandparents. My daughter paid 80.00 for a carriage for 6 people. The carriages are very small and realistically only big enough for 4 or 2 slim adults and 3 small children. We were very squashed. The christmas fairy was quite scary .....a huge ring through her nose and tattoos.....not very festive. The train ride through the grounds was poor some tulips?, toadstools and owls lit up...not very festive...lots of dark bits along the way. When we arrived at the station Santa eventually arrived at our carriage window. Not overly jolly or enthusiastic. He handed my grand daughter her gift , unwrapped. It was a twilight train wooden disc to hang on the tree, (no ribbon provided!). The naughty elf was somewhat underwhelming. We then waited for our treat....hot chocolate!. It eventually arrived...only 1/2 a cup each!...and only 5 cups not 6 so my grand daughter had to share.
We were then driven back along the same route to the station.
Very poor for the money paid. My grand daughter didn't seem overly amused at any time. She was very quiet and subdued all the way through.

I am very disappointed this year with the twilight train at Perrygrove!
We went last year and was very impressed with the amount of lights and how they were positioned around the site so there was so much to see on the whole journey! Hence our decision to return this year now we have another little one.
This year we attended on the 3rd December and well …disappointed is a bit of an understatement!

On arrival we weren’t made aware that a section wasn’t going to be lit up we were also made to feel quite awkward about having a pram for our 5month old and was pretty much told the pram would have to go back in the car as was nowhere to park it… we might have stayed a bit longer after to see everything else and spend if we had a pram park as it was cold even though we attended before 5pm.

We paid £80 for the carriage and visit and to not be made aware of the section that wasn’t lit is not acceptable. It has bothered me more as the last time we visited with our toddler again we paid full price and wasn’t made aware on entry that the majority of the play park up the top was closed due to being a mud bath and they had closed it off to regrow grass…again lack of communication, information as well as happy to charge full price! Seeing a Facebook post saying there are spaces the following weekend in the week after - we should of been made aware and given the opportunity to swap our booking if we wanted to see everything for the full price we paid!

I was so impressed with the staff conducting the Santa train, the fairies, elves and Santa were so good! And they make it! A little disappointed we had two exact same presents (wooden tree decs same design) as the two we had last year - mix it up a little for returning locals.

It wasn’t as good this year as last year, the positioning of the lights looked like it was rushed… it wasn’t carefully thought about like last year. There was longer gaps on the train between lights and they weren’t as spread out which took the magic away for us adults. My 3yr old enjoyed it which was the main thing…his favourite was the dragon which was positioned at the station which was a bit odd as the whole point of getting on the train ride was to go and see and find the different lights/animals etc.
Last year - 9/10
This year- 6/10 (not a reflection on the Xmas staff)

Very busy day (kids were free in November) but not enough staff to make up for this. Nice train ride, though quite short and had to queue twice to get on. Not many signs showing the way to go. Had to queue for nearly half an hour to get food and it was only sandwhichs and not enough seating for the amount of people present but nowhere else to get food. No soap or toilet paper in the ladies toilets. Kids enjoyed the play areas in the twilight village and the treehouses though the green crawl-through tubes at the top were very muddy and kids were plastered in mud! We spent about 4 hours here but felt like we didn’t do very much and spent a lot of time just queuing.
