Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

My family visited this place years ago. It’s in the middle of nowhere and you need a car to visit. We had our picnic and took over an hour from where we live to arrive. It was our aim in lockdown to go back. Being disabled, this was my one and. We arrived to find a lot of cars coming out. We went through the car park to find no spaces available. However the place we parked on our last visit was cornered off.
One man was kind enough to let us into the car park and moved the cone. Happy our aim was about to happen, someone came out and said we weren’t allowed to park the disabled bay.
“It’s a staff car park” we were told. This was confusing and I explained a gentleman moved the cone for us to park. “He doesn’t work here. The staff are parked and the car park there.” Pointing to the full car park which contradicted what she just said.
“The boss is on her lunch break and she’s wanting this car park pedestrianised.”
Rather than give us the moment to eat our lunch then move on so we knew next time, the kindness wasn’t available. To put it bluntly this beautiful tourist spot is now catering for LESS tourists which is baffling. What made it worse was seeing the two empty picnic tables available and not being used! Perhaps this is isn’t a tourist destination for us Scottish people to enjoy anymore. Lots of visitors turned away. Car park is for staff only and some tourists. Utterly baffled by the treatment

Fabulous service from the cafe on the roadside side of the loch. Friendly staff and good quality food. Great place to relax, swim, sail, fish and have a barbecue on pre set frame (for portable types only.) Toilets on site are spotless.
Our favourite place.

This loch is along side one of the main roads of this part of the Highlands. However, it would be better put as the main road is along side of the Loch. Since it is set at rightangles to many of the other lochs, it can be mirror calm when the others are ruffled. This loch deserves your time.

My friend and I travelled up from Glasgow today for a swim in Loch Lubnaig. My review is not about the Loch, area or our swim, but is about the miserable and extremely rude Man who was obviously part of either the Visitor Centre or Cafe that’s located at that spot.
He was picking litter off the beach area and I tried to ask him about swimming conditions in the Loch. It took three times of me saying excuse me before he even vaguely acknowledged me and then when I asked him, he just laughed and said (patronisingly) that it was one of the safest and most popular places to swim in Scotland, and that there was “nothing in there that will eat you”!! During this exchange he didn’t once make eye contact or attempt to be pleasant in any way. We were left thinking that if this is what real tourists are experiencing then what a shocking example he is of a Scotsman. He was wearing a kilt, some type of beret and a park top. Absolutely dreadful attitude and very much not appreciated by 2 nice, friendly Glaswegian women who were asking a simple question.
Needless to say that due to this we did not use the cafe for our lunch but decided to return into Callendar instead where we had a lovely lunch and experienced pleasant staff.

On the way to Fort Augustus we stopped for a while at this lake (there are parking lots) to take a couple of photos and browse around. There are a couple of picnic tables and a small store that in our case was closed due to electrical problems (that's what they told us)..., they did let us enter the bathroom. We saw people swimming in the middle of January!! Apparently Loch Lubnaig is a popular place for swimming, kayaking, fishing, etc.
Some hiking trails leave from here but we had to settle for going a little further along a path that went up next to the road.

This is a beautiful Loch surrounded by trees and in the shadow of Ben Ledi. We stayed at the Forest Holidays Strathyre location with our lodge directly looking out over the loch. We swam in the Loch a couple of times and took out the SUP on a flat calm day. Simply magical on the right day.

We parked in the pay & display car park as it is right on the shore. There are picnic tables, designated BBQ areas, public toilets and even a small takeaway. Gorgeous views over the loch and easy access into the water from the small beach.
