Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Visiting Callander for a couple of nights away, we visited the Museum and spent a couple of hours going around remembering our prized childhood toys and some toys displayed that were wanted but never gotten. We are both children of the 1960s. There is so much to look at in the Museum. A working railway inside and another outside. Other visitors were just as enthralled as we were it seemed. Children were visiting too. I wonder what they made of it all. There is a shop area where some toys are for sale. My older cousin and her friend were going on a bus trip to Callander a few weeks later and I recommended the Museum to her. They went and they both loved it too.

I had to walk out out. It as claustrophobic. The collection is housed in a former guest house. Every nook and cranny is stuffed with all sorts of toys, Many of same, there were several Rupert bears for example. There was no information anywhere. it has so much potential if curated better and housed in more apporroate setting. the shop inserting for toy collector. would not recommend.

There is so much to see in this little museum. Each room, the corridors and staircase are filled with different toys. There's a different theme for each room. It brought back lots of memories of toys from my childhood and was fun to show my daughter. The shop has vintage toys and memorabilia for sale. Well worth a visit

What a day, this has got to be one of Scotland's gems. Easy to find at the end of the High Street. Walked in and my jaw just dropped, my childhood truly is in one place. The shop which is split into 2 halves has stuff for sale at really fantastic prices. Spent the first half hour wandering round the shop trying not to melt my credit card. Then we hit the museum, I defy anyone not to say " I had that and that " and that as you wander from one room to another full of all your childhood memories they all come flooding back. Set out in different genres, dolls , soldiers, cars, planes, action man , Sindy Batman and Robin GI Joe, Flash Gordon the list just goes on and on and on. You could return again and you would never see everything in one go. Worth the very small admission fee, family friendly , the staff were really friendly and informative. Thank you for a visit to my childhood.

Found the toy museum whilst staying in Callander for the night.
Situated on the high street just facing the co-op, it’s easy to find.
The shop is fab, I couldn’t believe my luck when I spotted a lotus esprit from the spy who loved me sat in one of the cabinets for sale!
My husband had one as a child and often talks about it, it was like we were meant to go in this place.
The museum was just mind blowing.
£3 entry fee, well worth it.
The most huge collection of every different toy from years gone by!
Catalogued and encased in cabinets, it was absolutely incredible to see.
The lady who we spoke to I believe was the owners daughter, and she was delightful, so friendly and warm.
This was for sure one of the highlights of our trip, Thankyou so much for sharing your collection with the world.

If you're looking for a carefully catalogued museum where every item is laid out and described, then this is not for you. However, it is the perfect place to reminisce about the toys you may have had as a child, and every square centimetre is packed with memories.

It is broadly split by room into categories such as war, science fiction, dolls, etc, but it's best just to turn every corner and stumble upon a fascinating new set of items, and my wife and I came away thinking that boys had a much bigger and better choice of toys aimed at them than girls did!

There is a shop for you to recapture some of your youth, and I hoped to stumble upon a kit I could buy and rebuild after 50 years, but sadly it wasn't to be.

A very enjoyable hour spent.

In contrast to the review by -traell1- ... we visited the Hamilton Toy Museum yesterday and could not have had a better experience. Staff were very friendly, talkative and, as you would expect, very knowledgeable in the history of toys. The collection is litierally bursting at the seams with magical nostalgia. I have never seen such a wide variey of old toys and collectables, some of which I had and competely forgotten about and some, as a collector myself, still actually have. There used to be a fantastic place in Glasgow called 'The Crazy House' which is sadly now long gone. This place has that same sort of feel. Well worth a visit. One thing I will say is - as it is so full of things - you may not see everything as it is hidden under, or behind something else. Needs to grow with more space as it deserves to be one of Scotland's best visited attractions. Scotland needs more places like this.
