Late afternoon visit

We visited the Lower Tamar Lake on a sunny May afternoon. The small car park still had plenty of spaces, and we enjoyed a walk to the bird hide overlooking the lake.

Our first visit and we walked part of the south lake (free car park). After having our picnic lunch we moved to the upper lake. We decided to have a coffee, but dogs are not permitted anywhere in the cafe. They should look at who uses the facility and cater accordingly. There were more parties with dogs than without. We... We came for a family picnic the pay and display parking was reasonable and the setting of the lake is lovely with it being surrounded by farmland. It was a quiet day with not a lot going on in terms of water sports and it was lovely spotting all the wildlife, however what took a bit of a shine off... More

When the sun is shinning and you have a space few hours there are few places nicer. Super walks around upper lake is 3 miles and takes about an hour. Stroll to the lower lake and aqueduct walk where you can walk along the old canal to Bude Cafe at the Upper lake, The Frog Hopper is awesome. Great food... More

As part of a tour with 30 split screen VW vans, Upper Tamar Lake gave us a great morning! Some of us set off in their kayaks, pedalos, canoes and paddle boards, whilst others walked around the lake. The staff were all helpful and friendly, the food was very good and the ice creams were excellent. What a lovely place!!

Gorgeous day so went for a drive and ended up here at Upper Tamar Lakes. Beautiful scenery and plenty of water activities on offer but only wanted a quick walk and a cuppa. At this point disapoinment set in. Having to pay £2 (minimum payable) for parking in order to spend my money in the cafe is a pet hate... More

We decided to take a walk around the upper lake and what a superb walk it is. It's about 3 1/4 miles it was a really nice day as well. Very highly recommended, one complain I would have though is that more seats are needed around the lake. It would be nice if south west water spend some of their... More

Lower Tamar Lake was quiet and peaceful and a great location for spotting wildlife and giving the dog (elderly) a gentle walk. Parking was free. We then drove to the cafe at the Upper Tamar lake for coffee and a snack but the minimum parking charge was £2 for up to 2 hours. I would have paid £1 for the... More
