Well worth the visit

As others have said, the stables don't look much but the horses look well cared for. Five of us went on a 1hr hack with a mixture of abilities. We left pretty much on time and the two guides were friendly and helpful. Everyone got the opportunity to trot if they wanted and although the horses went pretty much in... More

My husband doesnt ride at all but I ride a bit. We werent sure how it would work going on a mixed ability hack, but it was very good. My first impressions of the place werent good as the yard and stables were very tatty, but the horses seemed well cared for and healthy. I was taken off at certain... More

From being mounted on the horses we waited in the yard for half an hour while they mounted more and more latecomers. We had a dull 50 minute (supposedly 1hr) ride round the forest. My 8 year old was put on a leader rein... Even though she is very experienced in horseback riding and we told them this before we... More

From the road the whole place looks very tatty but the horses were well cared for and hacking good. A choice of 1, 2 or 3 hour hacks depending on your ability and fitness. My wife and daughter went on an hour hack £33 and split mid way due to ability. Next day my daughter went on the 9am 2hr... More

My boyfriend and I went on the 1 hour mixed ability hack. There were about 9 people of varying abilities but once you are assessed (and have proven ability) you can go for canters with one of the several escorts. There is also trotting for those who can rise to trot to a good standard and beginners are taught along... More

My daughter (age 16) and I went out for a fabulous hack on the two hour 9am advanced ride with Sue. Our horses were well-suited to us, the scenery was amazing and we lost count of the number of canters (at least a dozen, probably more). We ride regularly and have hacked out in several places around the UK, but... More

I myself am a total beginner but my girlfriend is an experienced rider. I booked us on the 1 hour mixed ability hack and was not disappointed! We were greeted by helpful and well presented staff and my girlfriend was particularly impressed with the condition of all of the horses. We were taken onto the forest in a group of... More

Bossy, and kept telling you to keep in line, like being a child at school. Very regimented and the dullest hack I have ever experienced. Nothing enjoyable about this walk, not even a hack, and did not even bother to ask about your riding skills.

What a great ride in the new forest. Small stables but good horses. We took a 2 hr ride through the forest, crossing streams, over heath land passing wide ponies and red deer. Our leader kept the pace interesting and we didn't just plod along. Cantering on long straight paths was fabulous. What a great morning, we loved it!
