About
SandWorld's Sand Sculpture Festival - celebrating ‘Science Fiction’ is open to the public from the 8th April until the 12th November 2023.
A fun, educational, all-weather family attraction, SandWorld showcases awe-inspiring work by some of the world’s leading sand sculptors – and is the UK's only Sand Sculpture Festival.
During this year’s festival, see amazing sand sculptures based on films and TV including Alien vs Predator, Avatar, Dr Who, Guardians of the Galaxy, Mandalorian, Star Wars & more. New displays will be added throughout the season, with many guests being able to watch in wonder as sculptors create their works of art. The sculptures are so beautifully detailed, it is hard to believe that they are just sand and water.
You are never too young or too old to create your own mini masterpiece. With daily workshops, plus, plenty of tools and water available, you can enjoy hands-on family fun whilst turning your ideas into 3D art.
Duration: 1-2 hours

- DesS1926Northamptonshire, United Kingdom14 contributionsSandworld family visitLovely to see the sculptures. Very friendly, helpful staff. We thoroughly enjoyed filling our characters with coloured sand, it was so therapeutic and that was a 75 year old, 47 year old, 17 and 19 year old…! :). The quiz was good fun as it made you read things and take note. Didn’t take long to look around the sculptures, but it is certainly worth visiting. :)Visited July 2023Travelled with familyWritten 5 July 2023
- Rainspot2000London, United Kingdom251 contributionsFantastic sand sculptures but only about 12 -15The sand sculptures are absolutely amazing, they are quite large too. Definitely worth a visit, car park is expensive on top of your entry fee. Allow one hour as there are only about a 12 -15 sculputesVisited July 2023Written 18 July 2023
- Fi L5 contributionsFiThis is a place for families with children. We went on the recommendation of trip advisor as a fantastic installation for all ages - it isn't. Most of the sculptures were aimed at younger people and there simply isn't enough for the price you pay. We paid £20 and spent 15 mins walking around looking at TV and cartoon characters. There is a big sandpit area for kids to play - but little else. It is a poorly conceived place with the main object being to optimise on other products for sale and a horrible cafe.Visited July 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 29 July 2023
- k381ssLeicester, United Kingdom193 contributionsSome great sculpturesThis is a must see there are some amazing sand sculptures. All ages woukd like this, it is a bit pricey. Doesn't take too long to go round, we were given a quiz to do along the way which was fun. There's a cafe, and a play area where you can attempt a sand sculpture, plenty of parking in the car park although it is hidden away.Visited July 2023Travelled with familyWritten 10 August 2023
- Rachel C10 contributionsImpressive Sand Sculptures! The sand sculptures are really impressive and the artists who have created them are very talented. I have read the reviews that say the entry price is too expensive but I think most things are really and you do save a bit of money if you book online. It was something different for us to do while we were staying in Weymouth and we enjoyed doing the quiz. We took our time walking round and looking at all the sculptures and taking photos so I do feel we got our money's worth.Visited July 2023Travelled with familyWritten 2 September 2023

Me and my family came here on Thursdays while we were staying at waterside holiday park. There are lots of good sand sculptures made by professionals from around the world. You can spend about 1 hour here.

Great sculptures, but £17.50 for 2 adults is ridiculous for the 15 minutes it takes to see everything. Also, be sure to carry all the relevant paperwork to prove you're a registered carer, or you will be refused.

The sculptures are absolutely fantastic, the facial expressions on characters absolutely spot on. Each display must have taken hours of work, but they change the sculptures quite frequently so you could go once a year and probably see new ones each time. It was nice to look at the display board with photos of previous exhibits. A little expensive for what takes about 20-30 minutes to walk around and take photos (probably more time required in the school holidays) but a very enjoyable and unique experience.

Amazing sand sculptures - great variety from films, Disney and culture.
But over priced for entry as only takes about 20mins to walk round them.

Great visit, sand sculpture artists very talented, signposting needs improvement, no signs and parked behind it without realizing, no toilets there had to come out to public toilets and no-one serving in the cafe area, from what we saw just 1 young lady on the ticket desk. Lots for kids to do and play in the sand. Enjoyed it as an adult, appreciating the talent. Not sure without cafe and toilets if so good for a family visit.

This looked really good online. 19.50 for 2 of us. Spent about 35 minutes there. Very disappointed. Don't get me wrong the sand sculptures were great. Just expected more.

The sand sculptures are very impressive and the likeness is amazing! I visited with adults during the Science Fiction theme. We loved seeing the different ways the artists had approached the theme. We've visited sand sculpture attractions before and Sandworld definitely lived up to our expectations. We really enjoyed filling out the quiz while walking around as it helped us notice all the smaller details. We had a lovely time and would go again
