Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Imagine an early December foggy morning and the splendid walk on the trail. It was quite an experience. Only couple of bicycles and a few dog owners.

The Roddy is a wonderful part of the Weymouth and Portland area. If you'd like the site of heroin needles smack head asking for change and teenagers doing ungodly thing under bridges you will love it. During the morning after about 6 am that's when all the drunks and drug goes are usually back in their homes he is quite a lovely walk that is until the schools end and gangs of youths patrol there stretch of the Roddy. At night if I really come to life due to it bisecting three of the most "exotic parts of Weymouth" you get a colourful cast of people all wanting to stab you or steal your money. Many a gang fighting stemming have occurred on this stretch of Weymouth.

This is a great little route. It’s long enough to feel you’ve do e something and short enough that all can enjoy it. I’ve walked and cycled this beautifully preserved doused railway route. Starting at the top corner of the town marina, it brings you out at the start of the causeway to Portland where you will enjoy wonderful views.

Being ex-railway, the path is fairly flat. This means you will be in the company of walkers, cyclists, pushchairs and people of all ages, it’s great.

I could not believe the amount of arrogant cyclists on the trail.Back home I am an avid cyclist myself so it was even more upsetting. The trail clearly states walkers can use this trail also so take note cyclists and Weymouth and Portland council .Sorry it is quite a nice trail which leads you to Portland where I picked up the coastal path and hiked to the Portland bill lighthouse.Amazing scenery and there is a lovely pebble beach just before the start.A word of warning the start of the coastal path up to the cliffs is really steep and even for me took my breath away and I consider myself fit.

It’s a lovely quiet walk along a flat railway bed now properly surfaced.

Although it’s very close to the coast views of the sea are few.

The major drawback is that there are very few benches to rest. The gardens and castle at Sandsfoot are a good stop off point but the cafe and toilets were shut.

Undeterred I pressed on to the Ferrybridge Inn shown at the end end of the line only to find it boarded up.

It’s a shame because it could be a really good feature.

First walked this route with my parents just after trains stopped and before the rails were lifted. Took my Late wife along here and stopped off at Sandsfoote castle and cafe. Makes for a nice relaxed amble with signs along the way marking things of interest. Noticed the tunnel has lights this time!

Formed on the bed of the old railway, this is a path between Weymouth and Portsmouth. Lots of lovely viewpoints and nicely shaded. Information boards at the old stations and points of interest. A good way to get to Sandsfoot castle or to avoid the main roads. Open to walkers and cyclists.

A very nicewalk but as the weather was rather warm, we both felf it woud have been nice to have a few places to sit on the way. Lovely flat walk but we were glad when we arrived at Sandsfoot castle for something to drink before we rturned back.

Walked the full trail from Weymouth, some lovely views along the way you must take the small detour to the old castle ruins with its splendid garden and views. Good cafe but perhaps only seasonal? Two miles each way.Tarmac path ideal for all weathers and shared with cycles.
