We went to the Ambleside site and I just wanted to write a review about the fella you had working that day. I didn’t catch his name but people like him are what keep places like this going. We went for water sports and we had an amazing time. The instructions was clear he gave us some great places to go to on the lake and was just a very helpful and friendly lad.

Absolutely love this place. Have been both kayaking and paddleboarding. The staff were really friendly and experienced and provided clear instructions how to use the equipment. It is an absolutely unforgettable experience and definitely a must try while in Bowness. Could not rate highly enough

Kitt and his colleagues went out of their way to make sure that a full day of outdoor activity with my business colleagues went smoothly and according to plan. Electric bikes delivered to our door, then canoes and kayaks across the lake. Perfect. Thank you to Kitt and the team.

Wonderful afternoon out on the water with my children and Kit, our guide. Well organised and accommodated our needs. Thought about on what we would enjoy and manage, supportive on the actual paddling too. Paddling accoss the water, exploring a little island. Magical. Also fully kitted out in wetsuits and life jackets, so no safety concerns.

Myself and my 16 year old stepson had a fantastic experience on the kayak tour from Bowness. Our tour guide Kitt was extremely helpful and made the experience a lot of fun. This is our 2nd experience with WCK and we will definitely be back again. Highly recommended.

We had such a great time. Great price for 2 hours kayaking. More than enough time to makd it around the island and have lots of fun on the water. The staff were very kind and helpful. We should have taken their advice of wetsuits for thd cold weather. Still we had a lovely time.

I just had the best morning out on Windermere with these guys. I did a tour which I believe is a new service out of the museum location and can't recommend it enough. Booking was really easy online, I could select the craft I wanted and not massively over-priced. We were out for about 3hrs and Kitt the guide was really knowledgeable. It's also a really great way to build confidence on the water if you're not quite sure of just renting and going.

We hired three kayak pairs for an 0900 two hour slot. We can very much recommend this. We were lucky with the weather, the lake was very calm and the two hours flew by. It was great to get up close to the bird life. You just need to be mindful of the larger craft that come by from time to time but otherwise felt very safe. The staff were excellent and had safety in mind when giving a preliminary briefing.

Hi, can dogs in lifejackets go on the kayaks/canoes?

Hi, we're coming in November, is it too cold to kayak then or still ok?
Written 19 September 2019
Hi, I suspect it’s still ok in November, just wear warm and waterproof clothes (you have to get your feet wet, hopefully the rest of you will stay pretty dry!). You could also hire wetsuits from the centre and the guys are very knowledgeable about the weather conditions.

hello
is car parking available at your bowness site if we were to hire a kayak?
Written 21 June 2018
Yes there is but you have to pay via a machine and display a ticket inside your car. It is around a 40 to 50 meter walk from the ferry end of the car park.

When kayaking, can you use the full lake or are you restricted to a specific area?
Written 12 May 2018

Hi Luke,
There are no restrictions as to where you can go by kayak on the lake, in fact, you can often visit more places than most other crafts! However, there are obviously places we would highly recommend you stay away from for your safety (Bowness Marina, for example), and we tend to point out scenic and sheltered routes for people on the day.
Time is also something to be aware if you've hired kayaks from us, as you can only hire for either up to 3 hours, or a full day (9:30-4:30).
Hope this helps!

I guess we will need full wetsuits for kayaking in October half term?
Written 1 October 2017
I would have said at least half suit, was ok in August in the sun but will have the potential to be cold this time of year.
Written 1 October 2017
Just an enquiry - is there is a an weight restriction? (My husband is 18stone)
Written 12 October 2016
There is no weight restriction, however there may be a little difficulty being 18 stone as the kayaks are quite small.
Hope this helps
