Winner of the Gold award for best attraction in the South-west 2012, Exmoor Zoo has become an ideal family day out. The zoo has established a good rapport with the North Devon community and offers a very hand on experience for all its visitors.Activities run throughout the day (every half hour in summer), you get to meet a bird eating spider, hold a snake, feed wallabies (under supervision), meet some of the zoos friendly furry animals and of course go to all the talks and feeding sessions (if you can)!Home to the “Exmoor Beast” (a pair of black leopards), Puma, Cheetah, Maned wolves, monkeys and lots of other unusual animals like Tamandua, Fishing cats, Tapir, Singing dogs and Binturong to just name a few! The zoo is a living place with changes all the time; no visit is ever quite the same.Useful information:• Disabled access (wheelchair provision and scooter hire)• Activities through out the day• Cafeteria• Children’s playground• Undercover picnic areas• Zoo trail.

We're local to the area so have been a couple of times with our young son. We really like it here. You can wander about quite happily looking at all the animals. There is a really lovely outside play area with picnic spot nearby which our son loves. You have the opportunity to go inside some enclosures at various times... More

You do not have to walk large distances to see the animals like some zoos great network of paths lead you round the charges. The talks from the keepers at feeding time was excellent. If you happened to pass a compound when a keeper was cleaning the animals they would gladly explain about their charges. The keeper in charge of the birds at... We visited in January and to be honest enjoyed this visit a lot more than some much larger zoos - it has a fantastic range of animals, good information about conservation programs and good talks and activity sessions for kids. We went to a bugs talk (and we were the only ones there) which was very well done & gave... More

We visited in January, but there was still plenty to do including animal feeds. As we both come from a working background with animals, it was nice to see unfamiliar species that we did not know much about previously. The keepers were lovely and informative which made our day out there a bit more special. There are high lookout points which... More

I enjoyed this visit a lot more than some much larger zoos - it has a fantastic range of animals, good information about conservation programs and good talks and activity sessions for kids. We went to a big bugs talk which was very well done & gave the opportunity to hold a giant spider and stick insect. Bear in mind... More

We enjoyed a day at Exmoor Zooe at the end of 2015 agreeing that we would like to return. Things worked out and we enjoyed a repeat visit on 29th Dec 2016 in very similar (dry, cold but mainly sunny weather). It was a delight to see the familiar residents and also see the way the zoo is still developing.... More

12yr old daughter thoroughly enjoyed keeper day today. Staff looked after all 4 of us really well and zoo keeper was excellent. Also good value for money with 3hrs of being a zoo keeper including lunch for 2 and a toy Puma & certificate for my daughter. She was delighted and so are we!

A great zoo hidden away on Exmoor, with lots to see including several species of big cats, also sand cats, singing dogs, primates and much more.
