About
Winner of FSB Family business 2019,Winner of the Legacy award ,Best Family Business 2017, Gold award for best attraction in the South-west 2012, Exmoor Zoo has become an ideal family day out. The zoo has established a good rapport with the North Devon community and offers a very hand on experience.Activities run throughout the day (every half hour in summer), meet a bird eating spider, hold a snake, feed wallabies), meet some of the zoos friendly furry animals and go to all the talks and feeding sessions!Home to the “Exmoor Beast” (a pair of black leopards), Puma, Cheetah, Maned wolves, monkeys and lots of other unusual animals like Tamandua, Fishing cats, Tapir, Singing dogs and Binturong to just name a few! The zoo is a living place with changes all the time; no visit is ever quite the same.Useful information:• Disabled access (wheelchair provision and scooter hire)• Activities through out the day• Cafeteria• Children’s playground• Undercover picnic areas• Zoo trail.

Walk on the wild side
Jul 2021 • Couples
We paid for a ‘walk on the wild side’ experience which was £135 for 2 people and boy did we get our money’s worth. Alex was our guide and keeper for the 3 hour experience, he was very knowledgeable and fun and took pictures of us with the animals we met as we moved around the zoo. We would definitely recommend this zoo to anyone.

Overpriced/not a full day out/poor facilities/sad animals 😞
Jul 2021 • Family
Unfortunately, we did not have an enjoyable day at this zoo. We paid £42 for 2 adults and 1 child which seems overpriced for the size of the zoo. This is not a full day out. Our daughter was bored after 2 hours and wanted to go home.
We were also genuinely sad and concerned for the welfare of the animals. In particular the wolves that were pacing their enclosure desperately looking for a way to get out. They appeared distressed, hungry and bored. Then other enclosures were either overgrown, empty or/and neglected.
After reading the response given by the zoo's manager to other customers that have had a similar experience and concern for the animals.
I feel the zoo is not taking on board customer feedback inturn not providing a better quality of life for the animals in their care.
In addition to this, my partner was rudely asked to remove his mask. There is a sign in the cafe stating 'please remove mask when ordering food so we can understand what you are saying'. This is at customer discretion and at no point do you have the right to ask someone to remove their mask, this is not in accordance with Covid19 current regulation.
Finally, the toilet facilities are very poor.

A brilliant place to visit, much bigger than expected. Very easy to read about and see the animals. Thoroughly enjoyed our day there.

They were just putting together their vegan menu when I got there so it was a little limited, but they definitely had options. Very impressed with the vegan cheesy chips+

Great zoo to visit
Jul 2021
My wife and I visited, along with our 8mth old baby. We were really impressed with the zoo - we have visited many wildlife parks and this one was really good. Lots of interesting animals, where you could get up close and a nice set-up - good info etc.

Amazing experience!

Great day out with the family. Beautiful, natural wildlife both in and out of the animal enclosures. You can tell that a great deal of effort has gone into providing a natural and enriched environment for the large variety of animals. Very educational and the keepers were enthusiastic, friendly and able to answer any questions we asked. Would highly recommend!

Best zoo iv been to
Jul 2021 • Couples
Had a lovely 3 hours at the zoo, it was well layed out and looked more like a wildlife park than a zoo, they really seemed to have paid most of their attention on making the animals as happy as they could be, great place to wonder round, if you have kids they'll love it 👍

What a fantastic day!
Jul 2021 • Family
Booked the "zookeeper for a day" experience for our daughter. From the initial booking to the day itself, the wonderful people at Exmoor Zoo could not have been more helpful & friendly.
The morning consisted of Potteroos, Ring Tailed Lemurs, Meerkats, Wallabies, Alpacas, Pademelons and Agouti. Following lunch, we went on to Cheetahs, Singing Dogs, Black Lemurs, Bush Dogs, Tapirs & Pelicans. Amelia was able to feed all the animals, help clean & groom them, and for those who were happy with it - got to cuddle them as well! This was an amazing day full of unforgettable moments for which we cannot thank Exmoor Zoo enough. Our particular thanks go to Alex who is as terrific with people as he is with animals and gave us memories of a day we will treasure forever.
Even with everything we saw, it was still only a fraction of the animals there, and we're already planning a return visit!

Brilliant zoo

Lovely zoo, the perfect size and full of interesting things you wouldn't usually see in a zoo eg biturong, margay, fishing cat. Really loved how the grounds were managed for local wildlife, toasties also surprisingly good with a peacock as a table mate
