I thoroughly enjoyed this tour. It was a friendly, welcoming experience for a new resident with previously only general background and landmark knowledge of the city. Some brisk walking and the pub stops served to warm us up on a cold night! Peter had certainly done his homework in terms of planning the route so that everything along the way was of interest. He was more than well informed on the general history and culture of Durham as well as giving specific information about locations and buildings - not least the chosen pubs and what they offer. I recommend it!

We had a great tour with Peter and learned so much more about Durham than we’d thought was possible. We stopped at four great pubs along the way, and each was a true locals pub that helped us to better understand the city. We’ve done many walking tours in various cities, but this one was one of the best. At about a mile it’s not too much walking, and Peter shared stories we hadn’t read in our guidebooks. Absolutely recommend this tour to anybody visiting Durham!

Peter's walking tour of Durham was nothing short of excellent. His knowledge of the city's history and present day added a rich layer to the experience. Peter's enthusiasm and engaging storytelling kept the tour captivating from start to finish. I highly recommend this tour for anyone wanting to explore Durham.

Peter gave my family an outstanding and highly informative tour of Durham. Although I knew a bit about Durham already, I gained such a greater appreciation for the city and its rich history, thanks to Peter. I highly recommend!

Peter arrived punctually and was very friendly and informative and easy to get on with and gave us a great informative tour explaining all about the amazing history of Durham and its querks and points of interest. He showed us all of the sights and gave us an insight into the long history of Durham around the tour and descriptions on what we were looking at. He was brilliant with his tour and answered all the questions we asked him. I would certainly recommend Peter as he was certainly worth his weight in gold :o)

Fab guide, friendly and informative. Historical information he ( I think Peter, smiley face, dark hair, married for 5 years 🙂, ) passed on to us was reiterated elsewhere so he knows his stuff. Good luck with the upcoming new tour in October!

It was fascinating to walk about Durham and to hear the stories about the 'darker' side of Durham historically. Thanks so much to a friendly and knowledgeable guide. The cost is very reasonable and well worth it.

Being a local I was a bit unsure how I would enjoy a walk around my own back yard ! We booked the tour to show our visiting family our beautiful city. It was however a real enjoyable experience as Peter was able to point things out we have walked past hundreds of times. Peter made the hour and a half whizz past with his knowledge of the local history and geography of Dunn Holme 👍

We really enjoyed the one and a half hours we spent with Peter. His tour was brilliantly thought out and showed Durham off at its best. Even in the pouring rain the time spent on the tour flew by. We would hightly receommend this tour to learn about the history of Durrham, the Cathedral and St Cuthbert. Peter is a really nice man whose enthusiasm and knowledge brought to life the history of this beautiful city.
