I have been visiting Durham for more than 50 years, but learned a great deal on this visit. From early to more recent history

Does not seem like much from the outside, but you can learn a lot about the history of Durham, and enjoy a lovely old church at the same time.

Came in here by default--the Cathedral was having a service, and the castle tours were booked up. The lady at the door was exceptionally welcoming and helpful, so this set my visit up very well. It's in a musty little church with a gallery, which...More

The place had caught my eye earlier and I wandered in because it was open (it has somewhat impossible hours which seems to be its greatest downfall). I had a very good time! For a tiny museum in a little town the place is outstanding....More

The entrance fee is £2.50 for adults, which is very reasonable. This is a relatively small museum documenting the development of Durham through the ages from Medieval times to the present day. There is something for everyone with interactive activities, such a brass rubbing and...More
