I went with some friends and family to try out fly fishing for the first time and we had a really brilliant experience. Our guides, Stuart and Rachael, were kind, patient and obviously experienced and passionate about their fly fishing.Despite this being our first time, most of us caught something. At one point I was frustrated that I hadn’t caught anything yet, Rachael was patient and encouraging until I caught a fish.
I would definitely recommend; The guides taught us extremely effectively and the view was beautiful.🐟🐟🤩🤩

Stu arrived on time and took me to stretch of Tees I had arranged to fish and supplied gear I had not provided for my self -flies and wading apparel.
He scoped ahead whilst I laboured to keep up and put me safely into runs comfortably.
First couple of casts netted my first ever grayling an we fished on with takes on a regular basis.Although frightful weather was predicted - Bobet- our conditions proved ideal and apart from the difficult high back to negotiate it was well worth the outlay.

I got bought a half day guided session with Stuart for my 40th birthday. Although coarse fished for many years, and dabbled a bit in Stillwater fly fishing, had never experienced fly fishing on a river. I’m keen to up my skills and learn more about euro-nymphing.
Meeting Stuart on the banks on the River Wear, I knew straight away we would get along. A knowledgeable and enthusiastic chap, and clearly keen to impart knowledge without lecturing.
We started with a bit of casting just to get my eye in and then moved onto getting the rods out proper.
Stuart talked me through his nymphing setup and was happy to answer all my questions (of which I had many).
Getting into the river and having a proper go was fantastic. I found with Stuart I was pulling together the final pieces of a puzzle from the numerous videos I had seen on the internet about fly fishing and euro nymphing on rivers.
Today was the first time I met Stuart though felt like we had known each other for many years. I learnt loads, caught a few fish in tough conditions and just had a great time. The buzz is definitely there to get back out fishing asap!
Stuart provided a great days Fishing and I would thoroughly recommend to absolute beginners and to those looking to enhance their skills. Thanks so much. Will see you on the banks.

I got the half day experience as a 60th birthday present from my friends. And what a present it was.
Stuart, my guide, was friendly, patient, always encouraging and very knowledgeable.
As it was the first time I had picked up a fly fishing rod he showed me the casting techniques and after some practice when he thought I was ready we went fishing.
With his local knowledge of the river we went to several locations and put the practice to use. Throughout to session Stuart advised on any adjustments I needed.
And I did catch some fish. There were some small ones but catching a 20cm trout to me was priceless.
Would I recommend a fly fishing experience with Stuart? Most definitely.
Thanks again for a great evening of fly fishing.

Yesterday had the pleasure of day fishing with Stuart. Having coarse fished all my life i then had an interest in Fly fishing. Having almost beat trout out of lakes with my novice fly casting and fishing techniques I knew it was time for some professional guidance. In just one day I went from novice to Ninja.
Stuart’s approach is pragmatic, and simple to understand and action. No long technical theory just real hands on practical coaching. Wow… I stayed calm the water stayed calm(ish)and fish made themselves known.
Big thanks to Stuart a real expert who’s love for fishing he shares with you,and more importantly he helps you to fish better in a very practical insightful way.
See you again for a few more tips on how to get those big illusive fish 👍

I had a fantastic coaching half day with Stuart at Sharpley Springs. What a relaxed and rewarding experience picking up lots of knowledge and some great tips. It felt like I had just met up with an old friend that I hadn’t seen for years and I hope our paths cross in the future. I would strongly recommend Stuart to new starters and even people who have cast for yours like myself. Great guy and a great fly fisher.

A previous review stated it was like fishing with your mate, how true. After fly fishing go over 30 years, I received some guidance & fantastic tips, that I would never have believed possible. A great experience, a day full of laughter that absolutely flew by. One truly for the memory bank.

My daughter and I were complete newbies and wanted to have a taster. This is a great way to learn the key techniques - enough to get started - and have a great day out at the same time. Stuart got us casting within an hour and within another 30 minutes each had landed two fish!
Stuart is a wonderful teacher; he is knowledgeable, enthusiastic and nothing is too much trouble. He has excellent kit and prepares thoroughly. Thank you Stuart.

Hi Yan,
Thankyou for your lovely kind review.
It was great to spend some quality time with you and your daughter on the wonderful River Tees and am so pleased you both had a wonderful and fun experience.
The trout will need to be extra wary next time !!
It's a privilege to be able to share my love of fly fishing with others and to introduce them to such a fantastic sport.
All the very best
Stuart

I was with a group of five anglers with varying levels of fly fishing experience for a two day guided trip. Stuart was brilliant, his obvious passion for fly fishing was quite clear and infectious. His approach was to ask each of us what we wanted to get from the trip, then casually exceed our goals. His coaching was subtle but logical, so that learning was a pleasure and confidence levels increased when even the most ham fisted of us began to catch fish. Stuart is also great company and I was struck by how much pleasure he evidently took in watching us bring beautiful wild brown trout to hand. We all had a fantastic time and everyone left the gorgeous upper reaches of river Tees absolutely buzzing. If you only ever take one guided fishing experience, take this one.

Wow Charlie and the gang, what can I say?
It was an absolute pleasure hosting you all for a couple of days and was a blast.
Everyone seemed to enjoy the mix of venues and the development and learning of new techniques on a range of rivers and beats
I'm already looking forward to your return visit and for the great craic and banter.
One of my favourite memories of the trip was when the beginner was catching more fish than the experienced members the smiles said it all.
Can't wait for our next trip in 2023.
All the very best
Stuarr

Had a fantastic day on learning how to “proper” fish with Stuart. Bring course fishermen we wanted to learn how to fly fish so Stuart taught myself, my dad and my son (7) in a half day session…and it was brilliant. Intuitive teaching and his patience, humour and kindness with my son was great. Had a good few fish and went away with lots of tips and knowledge to get going on our own.
Stuart - I think in Jacob you have a friend for life, he’s not stopped talking about how brilliant you are and all the things you can do, you’re his hero!
Thanks again and look forward to seeing you on the river and we will be booking in for an advanced class in the future 👍

Thankyou so much for your review and what a lovely family.
The lads were great and took to it like ducks to water.
Fly fishing isn't the easiest thing to do however over the many years I've been fly fishing I've developed approaches that make it accessible and easy to.learn and be successful.
Jacob and all family are welcome back snytime
Best wishes
Stuart
