We went to Haigh Hall for the first time to listen to the brilliant Golbourn Brass Band but were pleasantly surprised as we found the Hall and the grounds as well as the cafe and farm shop first class. On arrival the guy on the car park was most helpful as were all the staff we spoke to. The weather was glorious which had obviously brought out lots of families and the park looked fabulous and is obviously a jewel in Wigans crown. We will certainly return.

So I've rated this location a 4 but there are some ups and downs which I'll list.
The carpark is reasonably priced very close to the woodland itself.
It is completely dog friendly except the park which is usual. But please please please put some benches outside the fence so we can have the benefit of both worlds.
The Coffee shop at the start looked promising but unfortunately they seemed to mix our order priority up and we were waiting at least 40 minutes for 1 cheese on toast and one bacon sandwich. The coffee was a bean to cup machine and was weak but the staff rectified by adding another shot for me.
The food ended up being nice enough, bacon a bit underdone to my taste but ok. The drinks were way past finished by the time the food arrived.
The adventure golf was reasonably priced. But a large group was in front so we decided to return after they'd finished. The course was very good (my kids had a tiny moan at wood chips on the green that hindered the ball sometimes)
The Park grounds are stunning. Very neat and tidy, dogs were mostly on lead (ours included) and I only spotted 1 unpicked up dog poo the whole day. Which was great as I hate it!
The rest of food establishments we tried 'bakery' and 'graze' I am a foodie and have run my own food business so I can be quite critical. I feel the food could really easily be brought up to another level. I brought an éclair home and it was inedible due to the vast amount of sugar added to the cream filling. I have a sweet tooth and it was horrible. The kids ate in Graze the kids lunch box was excellent value but the rest of the offerings are very average and the side salad is pitifully sad. Very strange food combos. I didn't fancy anything from the menu so chose a jacket as a simple option to eat with my children. The portion was very large but didn't taste of much the side salad was flimsy iceberg and 1 half cherry tomato and 2 pieces of Cucumber. The hot sandwich was OK but was lacklustre, I could go on but trying not to be extra negative. There are so many ways to improve the food offering without extra cost to the business.
I'd not eat in the woodlands again. You can bring your own picnic which is great, plus plenty of space to eat it.
The most disappointing is that it says on the website & socials that activities are open in school holidays and weekends. It is still the school holidays for a lot of us and the crazy golf, high ropes, train rides and funfair all were closed, despite the first carpark being full. Please specify on social media when you are open for activities because it was disappointing to an 8 year old looking forward to the trains & rides.
The toilet facilities were lovely & clean.
I've rated the woodlands a 4 because it's a stunning place and could easily spend all day here (and eagerly spend a lot of money)
We will be back for sure but probably on a weekend to get the most out of the location.

I absolutely love this park, loads to do. Reasonable car park cost to start. They have multiple places you can buy food and drink and also have toilet facilities. The park is brilliant for kids massive playground, one of the best we have ever been too. Loads of equipment to use. They also have little fun fair, mini golf, tree top adventure ice cream vans. Beautiful walk around the halls grounds especially on a sunny days loads of places for a pic nic with benches or even sitting on the grass. But my favourite part of this place has to be the mini train ride! The guys who run it are volunteers and they are all really nice, it is also a donation only so pay what you can afford, most places would charge a fortune for this, so I really respect that fun for all

We went to haigh hall yesterday bank holiday friday with the grand children and family, lovely day out, park was beautiful and it was very clean and tidy and the food places were delicious. The only one thing that i can complain about is the little fairground, bit expensive for the amount of time you were allowed on it and also the fact that one ride was being supervised by a DRUNK, absolutely discusting and i took my grand chicken off the fair.

Hadn't been here since I was a child myself so finally decided to visit with our daughter and wow what a change since all those years ago! There is so much to do, a small funfair type area which operates via tokens which you can buy at a kiosk (and they do accept card). There is a large play area which is suitable for all ages. There is also a small courtyard of eateries and shops and two mini golf courses. You can easily spend a full day here when the weather is nice. Well worth a visit!

The Council has achieved a real success here, especially the old stable yard now called the Haigh Kitchen. Congatulations on achieving Leveling Up funding for Haigh Hall itself - this will surely become Wigan's jewel in the Crown.

Are dogs allowed in the Crazy Golf attraction? We want to come for a family day, including a walk around the grounds with our dog. But we're unsure if we'll be able to do the crazy golf too if we bring our dog with us.

Are dogs allowed all around the park or restricted to limited places?
Darren N is wrong. Dogs don't have to be on a lead at all times. They should be on a lead in the courtyard and are obviously not allowed in the kids play area. I take my dog up there most days 👍🏻🐶

Hi,
I went a year ago whilst refurb taking place and the queue for the car park was pretty stressful with children in the car. Has everyone who's been going recently been able to park with ease?
Many thanks

We arrived mid morning and had to queue to get in. From what I could see repair work was being done to the entrance so when completed it might make accessability easier. What I did notice was we had to drive round car park to find a space but when we were leaving in the afternoon it looked as though they were using a field nearby as overspill car park. Once main car park is 75% full why not open the overspill to help congestion.
