Very unusual and interesting property.

Spent a morning here in October and thoroughly enjoyed looking around the wing which had originally been built as servant quarters. The staff were very enthusiastic and helpful... read more

Although this is an interesting building and the "skeleton" staff do their best to help you enjoy your visit, there is not much left of this building internally due to unrepaired extensive fire damage. Some works appear to be be in place to at least shore up the crumbling upper floors. Cellars are interesting as long as the battery on... More

A lot of the rooms look very bare and empty. I got in for free entry as I am disabled. The cafe is nice on the other hand.

Seaton Delaval is not quite your normal NT House because of the fire in the 19th century. The main house is a lovely paladian style house but the inside is fascinating, not because of the furnishings but because of the fire and the history of the house. The gardens are also excellent and show lots of different features and styles.... More

Spent a morning here in October and thoroughly enjoyed looking around the wing which had originally been built as servant quarters. The staff were very enthusiastic and helpful. It was interesting to walk in the burnt out remains of the main building. The cafe was excellent and the young man in charge very personable. A unique place to visit with... More

This is a grand country residence or rather was! Designed by Sir John Vanbrugh the great English architect it was the home of the Delaval family notorious for their parties and pranks. Today it is exquisite from the outside and the interior is as they say 'work in progress' but the house and grounds are a must visit.

Me and my husband visited this place in October, whilst on holiday. We had a great time and would encourage anyone in the area to pay a visit. The guides were very informative but we would have preferred a tour, something which isn't offered yet. There is something for everyone and it truly is magnificent seen with the extensive fire... Disappointed about the lack of information about families who had lived there.Very much a do it yourself walk around but portraits and exhibits enabled one to find out about the building

The hall is worth a look round - a work in progress in terms of restoration, more ruin than stately home but still impressive. The grounds are the highlight particularly in good weather & a nice setting for a picnic. There's a little play park to keep the little ones entertained & cafe for the adults so can easily kill... One mans vision realised but not completed in his lifetime due to a fatal horse experience. A devastating fire has made this a unique experience as the fire damage has not been rectified with the exception of a replacement roof and some structural necessities. Amazing views to the bay and beyond.

A really interesting place with a great social history, brought to life by the enthusiastic and knowledgable volunteers.
