We played Nightmare Mansion. It’s their horror room. Great room, good clues and a good challenge to complete it. We had a team of 4 and managed to escape within the time frame of 60 minutes (even had a few to spare). If you like spooky and the dark it’s a great way to spend an hour

Brilliantly constructed spooky challenge, well organised by the very friendly staff, we thoroughly enjoyed escaping from Nightmare Manor by the skin of our teeth with one minute to go !! Can’t wait to do another one !!

Was really good fun, something different to do!
We were given a voucher by family for our birthday and weren't sure what to expect, as we haven't done an escape room before.
Once you got into the room, you were left to it and the puzzles were all based on logic and solvable with what was around you. The game master gave us some helpful clues that got us going, but once we got the hang of it we were rolling.
Really enjoyed it and would go back. But we might take a magnifying glass the next time - the numbers on the padlocks were hard for us to read! That's our excuse for not quite making it out within the hour 😆

Great experience! We came with a group of 7 of us (where the youngest was 7y) to the Space Pirate room and it was good fun. We escaped eventually, we all contributed and got there in the end! Would come back again, and world recommend to families looking to do something a bit different for a change.

What can I say, I've been many times to the pirate escape room and it has NEVER disappointed. My girlfriend booked this up for my birthday as we just wanted a quiet, slow day and to say it was the perfect couples activity would be an understatement. We did the Mutiny escape room and while the puzzles were challenging they weren't impossible to work out. Will be back as a lot has changed since I was there before this visit! The hosts were unbelievably friendly too!

As a family, we have now played all the games at Pirate Escape, most recently Nightmare Mansion for my sister's 19th birthday. We like to think of ourselves as relatively experienced escapers - and this one got us working very hard! I won't say too much so as not to spoil it for others but I can't recommend it enough. A great mix of puzzles, brilliant ambience, friendly and charismatic staff, and you absolutely get your money's worth - we escaped with 11 seconds to spare! Hopefully another room will appear soon so we have a reason to return. Thank you Pirate Escape!

This was a very disappointed experience. The room felt dated and unorganised, every room was just chaos, it didn't seem like there was a pattern to the game. We felt we were just lucky getting the code, by the and they were giving out the answers. This escape room certainly need some rethinking.

Such good fun. I hadn't done an escape room before but my companions had, in Durham. An email was sent before hand, with directions and parking suggestions. Greeted on arrival and all explained. We were shown to our game and final instructions were given. Trying to work out the clues and open padlocks proved to be quite taxing (I only speak for myself) on my brain, and although despite numerous clues we didn't finish in the time, we all had a good time and were still speaking at the end!

We visited the area for the day on 15.08.2020 and were lucky to get a slot at Pirate Escape on the same day! We rang to check availability on the off chance due to it raining and we wanted a safe indoor activity! We can say we felt very safe as they have taken every precaution regarding coronavirus. We felt welcomed and everything was explained clearly. We completed the mutiny room and it was brilliant! So creative, me and my husband both really enjoyed it and were chuffed to bits with our score of 48.40! We would 100% recommend this place and we will definitely be back to try the Jungle and the Oriental rooms which also look great! Thank you!

We just did the captains vault and we had mixed feelings about the place! The room itself is good! Especially the decorations. The whole experience would have been better if the game master was giving us clues and not just the answers. Maybe best if they actually have microphones cause a few times they were telling us what to do when we hadn’t even find all clues we needed. Felt more like they threw a bunch of locks and numbers in the room and didn’t care much about the plot? They didn’t give us any clues but just answers. ( happened with 2 riddles where the game master didn’t even give us the chance to solve it but gave us straight away the code like why)Seemed rushed and maybe game master inexperienced. It could be though because this is more of a family friendly escape room so many kids around. Also you can hear the kids from the next room fyi if you don’t like that and you want to be able to focus on the actual room. Overall I can imagine kids enjoy it but me and my partner we have done over 30 rooms we found it below average

Is there any parking nearby?
Written 4 September 2019
Yes, during the day you can park in the shopping centre car park next door or any time you can park on the street outside or up the bank opposite. We also send out a small parking guide with all bookings that has the areas around marked on a map

Is there room for a pram?
Written 4 November 2017
I personally don't think the place is suitable for a pram, you have to go up about 15 stairs just to get up in the reception, and you cant take a pram into the small escape rooms, there is not enough room.

Hello,
Would this be suitable to book for me and my boyfriend for his birthday I am 20 he will be turning 22? What is it? basically I have read up and still don't really understand what it is?
Another quick question is my boyfriend is the shy type and I noticed by the photos people are dressed up as pirates is this experience similar to the likes of Dungeons where you have to act etc as this would not be something he enjoyed at all...
Any help would be much appreciated so I can decide weather this will be for us or not.

Hello Demi I think our games would be great for you both. Some games do have costumes in just to add to the theme of the game but please don't feel you have to put them on. As for the games themselves all you need to to is follow a trail of clues and solve puzzles to move through the game to the final exit. Each team that plays can have as many or as little clues as they need. As we are a family business our players experience is the top priority.
Hope to see you soon :)
Thanks
Andrew
