I booked a half-day Beaver Safari in early September, and it was a wonderful experience, one I would recommend to anyone with an interest in wildlife. Our guide, Daniele, was very knowledgeable and answered all our questions with great patience and enthusiasm. We were treated to a spectacle of three beavers interacting with an otter, which surpassed all my hopes and expectations!

Took part in a 4 hour dusk beaver tour on 20/07/2020 and couldn't recommend it more!!! The evening began with a tour of a location where it is easy to see what a difference to the area the beavers had made which was really interesting. Our guide Danielle was able to answer all of our questions about the beavers no matter how obscure they were! She was also brilliant at pointing out other wildlife and naming all of the plants, very impressive indeed! The next part of the evening is in a second location waiting patiently on the river bank waiting to see the beavers. We were lucky enough to see not only beavers but an otter as well!! There was quite a lot of waiting quietly punctuated with periods of lots of action on the river, I am not normally a particularly patient person so was surprised at how much I enjoyed just taking the time to sit quietly and watch and listen to all the nature on the river, it was probably the most relaxed I have ever felt! True mindfulness! The highlight of the tour was obviously the beavers and being able to see them in their natural habitat just going about their business but what set the tour apart was Danielle - her passion and knowledge shone through and she was an engaging and friendly host. If you are visiting Scotland I would really recommend planning this trip into your itinerary!

side note - small changes have been made to minor parts of the tour due to covid which was communicated really well to us and made no difference to the quality of the activity at all. We all felt very safe at all times.

We are a family of four and we thoroughly enjoyed our trip to see the beavers.

We arrived in Alyth and took a short drive to the estate where Daniele told us about the beavers, their habitat and their lifestyle. Straight away we saw signs of the beavers' work - cut down trees, nibbled bark and large wide trails.

We visited the dams and then sat still for a while to see if we could spot a beaver and they did not disappoint as two appeared, swam fairly close and went about their business quite happily.

I would recommend this trip as it's a relaxed way to spend some time in the countryside, learning about a once-native animal and having an encounter with them in their natural habitat.

I was staying in the area in mid-September and looking for something different to do -a beaver safari definitely fitted the bill! Daniele was brilliant in accommodating me on the evening's viewing. She is clearly very passionate about the environment and the reintroduction of the beavers in particular. It was lovely just to sit on the bank for a couple of hours with the sights and sounds of the river such as kingfishers darting past. Wildlife encounters can of course never be guaranteed, but we saw four beavers during the evening which was a real thrill. Recommended.

We have over the years seen dams/lodges and evidence of beavers in Oregon USA, Vancouver BC Canada and even in Argyll closer to home, but it wasn't until Saturday the 11th July 2020 that we saw our first wild beaver. It was a fantastic evening with a great guide in Daniele, who was extremely knowledgeable about beavers and the environment that they live in. The dram at the end of evening to toast the beavers was a nice touch and will live in our memories for a long time. The fact that we saw the daddy beaver taking the kits in his mouth to safety was a real bonus, as I'm led to believe is very rarely witnessed. Worth every penny.

We saw a beaver!! We also had a wonderful, peaceful evening on the River Tay and thoroughly enjoyed learning about the reintroduction of beavers in Scotland, how to look for signs of beaver activity, and learn about some of the challenges that they still face. If you enjoy wildlife, I would thoroughly recommend the canoe safari, even if you don't see any beavers, it is such a wonderful experience to float along as the sun sets and listen to the many birds and other animals. Danièle is an excellent guide and very knowledgable about lots of wildlife (not just beavers) in the local area. The canoeing itself is very easy and is very accessible, in addition to this there were the two very friendly and attentive canoe guides to keep an eye on you, so we felt very safe throughout the evening.

After having to reschedule due to health issues, to say we were excited for our Beaver Safari would be an understatement.

Our session started with a wee bit of housekeeping in Alyth, before heading to the Bamff Estate. The first site to reintroduce beavers in the UK, our first hour was spent exploring the wetland habitat created by these mighty rodents and it was obvious straight away thay they had been hard at work.

After our tour of the estate we sat quietly by the ponds, hopeful that we would catch sight of the solitary and elusive creatures. Watching carefully, I caught a brief glimpse and we all followed downstream to see where the beaver was taking its haul of vegetation. It promptly vanished!

After sitting again and watching the rest of the wildlife, we decided to risk a wander to another dam and I am glad we did. Not only did we get to meet the lovely gentleman who owned the estate and brought the beavers back to Scotland, but we got to watch an industrious beaver fortifyig one of their dams!

As the sunset over the peaceful lanscape, we celebrated the beavers return over a wee dram and set off home feeling privileged to have had a successful encounter.

The experience was wonderful and far more engaging than expected. We'd recommend that everyone experience this at least once in a lifetime!
We observed six beavers close to their lodge on a splendid sunlit evening, sitting quietly on the Tay riverbank opposite the beaver lodge. A fantastic event with a very well informed and pleasant guide. The highpoint was watching a large female stagger up the riverbank, and sit on her tail ready for a quiet grooming session. An added bonus was that our Perthshire Wildlife guide took video footage and sent it to us so we have a permanent record of the event. Be prepared to be entranced.

We took part in the Beaver experience as a large group of 9 on the 29/07/2020 and it was incredible. After a slow start our group managed to see 6 beavers in the wild going about their business at their lodge. The tour guide Dani was great company, offering extensive knowledge on the local wildlife and vegetation, answering any questions we had. The River Tay is also such a beautiful area and it was so relaxing to spend a couple of hours sitting and watching the beavers in their natural habitat. This is an exciting experience that I would recommend to anyone, especially those with in interest in the outdoors. Thanks to Dani for a great afternoon!

A wee birthday present to myself on 8th August - we went Beaver watching with June. After a short drive out of Blairgowrie and a 10 minute walk from the car park, I hadnt even sat down when one of the beavers came out their lodge and swam past us. We saw both adult beavers, their 2 newest kits playing and at least one of their yearlings swam right at us and away. We watched the beaver swimming up the river, then perhaps an hour later swimming back with a massive piece of willow, either for lodge building or dinner for the wee ones. Couldnt believe how close we got to them, brilliant night out, nearly 3 hours passed so quickly. Could've sat there all night, but it was getting dark :)
