Fantastic Experience Scrambling in Glencoe!!!

My wife and I had an absolutely incredible time scrambling in the Glencoe region with our guide, Stephen! As experienced scramblers in the Canadian Rockies, we really wanted to explore some of Scotland's finest mountains, but felt that some guided ascents would be a good idea since we were new to the entire area and unfamiliar with some important aspects of these mountains.

Immediately, we felt comfortable with our guide and that feeling never left us. At no point where we ever uncomfortable, and at no point did we feel that voicing our discomfort would have been met with anything but patience and calm. He is very focused on safety, ensuring that everyone is comfortable with every aspect of a scramble. After our first day on Curved Ridge, we ascended Tower Ridge for an unforgettable ascent of Ben Nevis.

Quite simply, if you're new or very experienced to scrambling and want someone to show you some great lines on stunning mountains, look no further. We simply cannot recommend this company enough, and we're so grateful to have experienced this!

Hi Matt & Rebecca, What a great few days we had! And I'm glad it left such a great impression of the Scottish mountains for your trip. Having experience from the Canadian Rockies showed as we made light work of both Curved Ridge and Tower Ridge. I hope it has inspired you guys enough to come back for some more adventures sometime in the future. Drop me an email anytime if I can help with anything. Take care and best wishes Stephen

Great day out in the Skye Cuilins with Scottish Rock and Water. Stephen, Matt, and Louis were obviously knowledgeable and confidence-inspiring guides, but also very likeable making for a safe, enjoyable, and memorable experience.

This is an unforgettable experience. Stephen was a very good guide. Just the right blend of safety advice but relaxed and not overbearing at the same time. Great food. Wholeheartedly recommend.

1st Class open canoe trip down the Spey. Great mix of adventure, jeopardy and relaxation. Guided by Stephen and taxied by Rosie. As a first time open canoe paddler it was a pleasure to draw on Stephen’s experience, passion and knowledge of Scotland’s wild places for a few days. Food, company and hospitality all excellent and would highly recommend to anyone thinking about this to use these guys.

The trip delivered exactly what I expected. Some amazing scenery, camping below Suliven, jumping into Kirkaig Falls & camping on an island on Loch Sionasgaig.
The portaging was tough in the heat but we worked together as a team & got the job done. Our guide Rory was fantastic, making sure we were well fed & watered & giving us choices on what we would prefer to do.
A true escape into the wilderness with hardly any phone reception throughput. Blissful.
This was my 3rd trip with Scottish Rock & Water and I'd definitely do more.

Wow. Emily and I have been looking forward to this trip for over two years and as the time approached and the weather reports suggested rain all week we were a little anxious. From minute one at the pick up Terry welcomed us with motivational smiles and as the rest of the team arrived we were soon into introductions and chatter. Our guides Lianne and Stephen were amazing. Instructions and advice on what to pack in what container were simple, getting the canoes ready for the water was easy and we were on our way within an hour from being dropped at the canal. Whilst day one was "wet" we still managed to get some social time under the tarp with drop of wine. The weather then turned in our favour.... A wet lunch or two followed but the evenings at camp became very sociable and the entire team got on brilliantly. The whole trip was a team effort, pitching and striking camp, cleaning up, loading the boats and portaging were made so easy because everyone chipped in. The meals were fabulous and no one went hungry. The canoeing was amazing and the sailing even more so. Thank you Lianne and Stephen for a fabulous experience.

We had the best week tackling the Cuillin mountains with Scottish Rock and Water. It was one of the most exhilarating four days of my life. Stephen’s (our guide) knowledge and experience was invaluable, we learned so much, especially about how to move across tricky terrain and finding the routes. He is a an interesting guy, a great laugh and is very professional when it really counts. He knows every single rock on those hills, trying to navigate safely without a guide in the Cuillins is not recommended. Any moment of fear during the scrambling and climbs were quickly extinguished because I knew we were in safe hands with Stephen. Getting time with an experienced mountaineer is a must if you enjoy climbing mountains, it could mitigate the chances of accidents happening. Next stop for us is the winter skills course.

Hi Nick, It was a real pleasure to be part of such a memorable week with you guys. Always keen to explore, ask questions and challenge yourselves. Allowing us to take some less travelled routes. Also for your input on plenty of discussions on the flower and fauna we saw throughout the week. I hope you laugh, joke, and smile while recounting the stories to friends and family for years to come. Take care and best wishes Stephen

What a week! One of the best I have ever had, and highly doubt it will ever be beaten. Stephen guided my friend and I across the Black Cuillin Munros. His knowledge and professionalism was awe inspiring! The course is extremely good value for money, knowing you were always in safe hands, while also having a good laugh throughout each day. He is a wealth of information and advice, always ready to share tips or make sure you are comfortable with every aspect of the trip. Anyone thinking about undertaking this adventure, I promise it will be the best decision you make. I've made incredible memories which I will cherish for a lifetime. Thanks again to Scottish Rock and Water. See you on the next one!

Hi Giuseppe, What a week we had and I'm glad the week met and exceeded expectations. Thanks to you guys for such a great laugh through the week and for all the great questions about the mountains, flowers and history. Not everyone is always interested in this and it's cool to share knowledge when people are super keen. I hope you guys talk about the week for years to come. Take care and best wishes Stephen
