About
Southport Bijou Cinema is a Not-For-Profit Community Interest Company. We love film at the Bijou and we’re here to bring cinema to the community. Matinees and evening films include classics, indies and dynamic world cinema shown in a 75 seat raked auditorium with up-market projector and surround-sound. Adjacent is our Bar, serving a range of hot, soft and alcoholic drinks, plus snacks. Well-behaved dogs and welcome. Upstairs is The Lounge; an arts events space with a multi-lighting system and comfortable sofas. Adjacent is the Media Room with a large HDTV for talks and meetings. Both will be accessible by lift from October 2020!

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Such a lovely little cinema, staff are friendliest ever, so nice. Went to see a Top Gun double bill. It was so good to see them together. This is such a lovely venue. You can even suggest films you would like them to show. Staff can't do enough . Looking forward to going again . We'll done to staff and all those involved in making it such a fab experience. So much better than multi national cinema chains. Fantastic place.

Our first time at Bijou was to watch Die Hard on Thursday 22nd- we are hooked!!
What a great little place……
Really relaxed atmosphere, great crowd, lovely staff.
Will definitely keep our eye on website now for upcoming movies - hopefully one of my 80’s suggestions I wrote on chalk board will be showing in the near future!!

Myself and my friend organised a joint 8th birthday party for our boys. Information via email from
Andy were very detailed and informative. Nothing was too much trouble.
We were greeted at the door by the friendly staff and taken through to the cinema. Enough seats for 75 I think. If the children got up to move about, dance etc it was fine. The party was great from start to finish. We stopped the film half way through to give out pizza and cut the birthday cake. The staff were very accommodating throughout and understanding of the few little ones (babies) that were there.
Overall a very enjoyable party and nearly stress free despite 40 odd noisy children!
Lots of parents commenting on what a fantastic idea a cinema party was and couldn’t believe we had the hire of the whole cinema!
Amazing experience, thank you to all the staff.

We decided to go and see "West Side Story" in this small cinema hidden away down a passage off the side street. It is like a welcome step back in time on entering. The foyer serves drinks and snack food and has a chalkboard which invites guests to suggest films for future screening. I added "Once". The cinema has about 80 seats, each with it owns "cup-holder" There are no trailers, no adverts, just straight into the main feature which is a blessed relief from mainstream cinemas. All in all a thoroughly enjoyable visit (and the film wasn't bad either !!)

The Bijou is my absolute favourite place in Southport. It's the friendliest little cinema I've ever been to, with a fantastic mix of old and new movies. You can even use their chalkboard to suggest future presentations.
Tickets are half the price of the soulless multiplexes, it's comfortable and fully accessible. The films start at the advertised time; no delays with endless ads and previews, just the film you've come to see. You can also buy a drink or a snack at a sensible price! Every film fan should check out this hidden gem - where else could you see The Maltese Falcon on one day and Judas and the Black Messiah on another?

The Bijou is a great little cinema, I have been several times.
t
The lads who run it are realy nice. I am disabled and as soon as they see me, one of them is the to help,
The films change every day, so there is always something you will want to watch, and no annoying adverts or previews, and only £6.
I give it 10 out of 10, and they deserve to be supported.
